Exactly! It's easy to maintain, cheap parts, and it isn't needlessly complex.

I'm currently stranded in a strange town because my fucking fiat 500's electronically controlled throttle body died for no reason. To replace the part, have it reprogrammed (because for some reason that isn't included in the cost) and get the injectors flushed (also necessary apparently) it will cost me about $900. Times like this I wish I owned a mirage that wouldn't fucking break down on me every year.

I am aware.

I seem to have gotten a lemon though. At the time, I wanted a cheap, basic car. I got a manual with no extra being and figured "this has been out in Europe for years, it's an old platform underneath. It will be fine" but oh how wrong I was.

Clutch pressure plate exploded at 50k kms of granny driving, had to take the full cost of that. The rear brakes have never been okay. And now this throttle body. How I long for the days when you just had a cable connecting your pedal to the butterfly valve. Now it's a factory calibrated piece of shit that costs half a grand.

I had the pleasure of renting one of these, this is a great little city car.

PROS:
Peppy/revy engine with plenty of power available in any rev-range.

Amazing fuel economy, I drove all over for 2 days returned it without having to fill the tank.

Surprisingly well equip and comfortable.

Handles very well and is easy to maneuver/park.

The auto climate is seriously better than any bmw or mercedes.

CONS:
The cvt is clunky and shakes -- I am sure there is a parasitic effect.

The trim/plastics have improved but need more improvement.

Obviously there is no boot space.

I have always been a fan of Mitsubishi... I have owned several lancers and 1 Montero which I still own. They have never let me down and the new owners which I sold them to still drive them to this day.

I am seriously thinking of picking up a new mirage -- to use as my daily.
>>
>>14680104

>78 hp
>peppy and plenty of power

Into the garbage your opinions on cars go.
>>
>>14680030

New car benefits:
>know you're the first person to own it, so nobody beat the fuck out of it before you, nobody accidentally ran it for 5 miles with diesel in the tank, nobody put differential fluid in for oil, nobody downshifted to 5th on the highway
>it's new, has a warranty, is $12k (most people who aren't on 4chan make this in like 2 months or less)
>it gets good mileage and is small

So overall, someone who wants a convenient shitbox would consider this car. I would if I wanted a Metro but needed something reliable for work and only had one parking space, I guess.

the car is fast, and weighs nothing. it has not a corvette or dragster. i was very happy with it. and i am going to definitely seek one to purchase as a dd. the insurance is cheap on it as well as the gas. maybe i save all the money i would of spent on gas to buy a really fast car i can throw around on my time off.
>>
>>14680188
It's not fast
>>
>>14680119
You must be one of those fags who can't "live" without 400hp+ for a daily driver.

The Mirage literally weighs 1 ton fully equipped. Sure its not fast, but 78hp is enough to move it around.
>>
>>14680200
A ke corolla has the same power and is lighter and gets better mileage and is more reliable and is rwd and only costs 1/6th of the price
>>
>>14680212
Except KE72 Corolla's were built fucking 40 years ago.

>>
I work at a mitsu/kia dealer and most people who drive these are either old, teenagers or people who want a DD and does not want to fuck with repairs.

For all those above this car fulfills their needs. It is not meant to be fast/luxurious. It will get you from point A to point B at 44mpg. I would probably drive one if I didn't need a bigger car.

Hell, you can still get it with GPS.

>>14680188
>>14680200

No at fucking 15s 0 to 60 it is Slow in every form of the word.

78 hp makes it almost unsafe for the current road ways, It can barely reach highway speeds on the onramp.

Anything past 10s 0 to 60 is way to slow.

It is not peppy, quick or fast.
>>
>>14680264
ok well fuck fast. i want a cheap and reliable dd that gets the best mpg possible for a steal of a price new. i can probably get the dealer down to 9k out of the door
>>
>>14680275
Get a base model 5 speed of the out going model and get dat rebate and you can jew yourself into a new car for like 9 thousand bucks. Or just get 2 running metros and use the rest of the cash to perfectly restore them
>>
>>14680264
It's suited for urban environments such as the city or suburbia, not highway cruising at 60+ mph.

I agree that anything slower than a 10s 0-60 is kinda ballsy to take onto the highway these days... but people like your grandma have driven under powered shitboxes onto the highway for decades now.
>>
>>14680320
i would get a 5speed but that defeats the purpose of a city car. i do not want to ride the clutch when i have to sit in traffic 80% of time. as for the geo metro fuck no. again they are ridiculously over priced. i am not going to pay 3 thousand dollars for a +15 year old car.

I like the hydraulic steering, interior simplicity, sound system, 5spd gearbox, comfy heated cloth, and exterior aesthetics. 167hp more than enough for an econobox. Only thing I hate is the rear window defroster which is absolutely fucking useless. Fuel economy is unremarkable but decent, I can get above 35 if I try.

3 series is not an entry level luxury car any more than say a Skoda Octavia. It's an entry level sports car, and the 320i is like the lowest you could get besides the eco 4bangers if they still make those. For a price of a new 320i you could buy like a 335i or M3
>>
>>14681122
No shit, it's a comparison between a dirt cheap shitbox and an overpriced shitbox that sells for the badge.

The sort that drives a Mirage doesn't give a shit about driving in any capacity, while the 320i driver in his leased automatic probably won't shut up about how he drives a 'Bimmer', as he slowly runs it into the ground.

tl;dr

Mirage a shit, but picking a car just to look dignified is faggotry.

>>
>>14681187
It's probably a little different over here.

In Australia we still the perception of Euro brands as luxury, and Skoda is tiny here. For the same price as a 3 series BMW, I could get a new Falcon with a supercharged V8. But the Falcunt won't present the same image.

It's given entry level "luxury" brand drivers a reputation as knobs who drive badly and aggressively, while still getting shit on by bogans in SV6 utes.

Ah ok. Like the Resort Runner GT. An Expo/Space Wagon/Chariot with a turbo 4g63. It was only available in Japan.
>>
>>14681013
maybe not evo but i think you'll be able to stick the 2.4 4b12 in it.

164hp in a tiny 2000 pound package should be pretty kek worthy

Yeah something like that with a huge fart cannon

Was close to buying a Outlander Sport 5speed for my family, ended up with a Forester. The extra 30 or so HP and AWD was the reason.
>>
>>14683414
Oh yeah i forgot about subaru. I never see them in texas.
>>
>5 speed version is great and reliable
>automatic/CVTs are unreliable
>marquee is known for reliability issues
>Micra is a better car but only available in Canada and not in the US
>Versa is cheaper
>1,863 curb weight
>higher rpm at highway speeds compared to CVT model

>reliability issues
This has to be an issue exclusive to the States. Mitsubishi seems to have the worst rep there, while everywhere else it's just a maker of decent appliance cars.
>>
>>14683581
Its the automatic versions that are terrible compared to Toyota

Not only that but they have what? 2 car models in the US? Messed up with the Eclipse. The lancer was a car with electrical issues

We got the L200. It was called the Mighty Max. Or the Ram 50.
>>
>>14683602
Fair point, CVT a shit. I haven't heard anything about electrical issues in the Lancers here, though I think the LHD ones are built elsewhere.

We never had the Eclipse, always wanted to import one over but our import laws are fucky and inconsistent. It's a pity that the 3G and 4G sucked too since those looked pretty good.

The lineup's looking dismal now. No more Evo or Ralliart, and I doubt they would resurrect something like the Starion just to compete with the BRZ.

>>14679984
Its funny because all the profesional reviews for this car are low but if you look at the owner reviews on kbb or somewhere they are high
>>
>>14683414
Isn't Subaru the choice for cucks?
>>
>>14683607
I learned to drive stick in a Ram 50. Great little truck.

Lesbians and vapers, though crossovers in general are cuckmobiles.

Carl's a bus cuck, though. He and Balding Skrillex spent their combined life savings buying SJW girl a crossover.

>add to the list
second generation pajero
sirst generation space wagon

first generation mirage

why are they so visibly horrible ?
everything about their appearance is sickening like a roach or maggot you just know its bad
>>
>>14688263
Imagine sewer mutants, only instead of radiation turning them into freaks it's following the SJW lifestyle. Men become nu-males as a result of submissiveness, self-loathing and vegan diets. They look as they truly feel.

I had to drive one of those for my driving test before I could get my license. It felt like I was in a Go-Kart.

If you buy a Mirage it has to be black, grey or red. Anything else will imply that you are a progressive fart smeller.
