I'm sure Modesto, like most of the world, was a much better place in 1962. Also modern Modesto has way fewer ayrabs than France. More tweakers though.

I'm in Modesto almost everyday
It's fucking awful anon, it turned to shit so quickly. I read somewhere online about how, "it's a city with small town sensibilities" or something. It was trying to explain why old rich people moved here. It's only good around where they all live, and even then it's shitty. The roads are cramped and have little shoulder room, if any, plus there's a nice surplus of large lifted trucks to take up all the space. The downtown area that has that fucking cruise route is pretty run down. If there's a car culture, I haven't seen it past all the #HellaFlush Hondas. They also recently started putting in new bike lanes that look like a buffer between the road and streetside parking, but none of the fucking tweakers use them, they still ride around the middle of the road.
