Based Subie transmissions that work for longitudinal, mid engined RWD swaps.
>>
>>14674741
That is a no-go

Two Jeeps I've owned "died" from transmission failure, same with a 420a Eclipse....
>>
>>14674693
Depends what you mean by best. The more exciting transmissions from specialist suppliers seem to be those offered by ZF in Germany and Aisin Seiki in Japan

I feelio you broski. I've got a secondhand t56 Magnum. Really want one of their sequential boxes
>>

fuck you, different transmissions are good at different price ranges for different purposes.

GM produced the GOAT automatic transmissions Powerglide, Hydra-matic, Turbo-Hydramatic and Dynaflow
>>
>>14676845
They make the tremecs, or sell them anyway and they also have sequential shifters, so I think so. Don't ever get a clutchless they're grenades waiting to go off

On topic, I used to think Allison was pretty good.

The correct answer.

RX7/RX8/MX5, S2000, all god tier gearboxes.
>>
>>14675143
As far as i know honda produces all of its own transmissions in house.

There is a factory in my town called RAPT that at least makes the gears for them. Hope that's helpful.

indeed, fucking idiots not realising that before asking...

How is the car even supposed to go fast without turbine-transmission?
>>
>>14680237
Yeah I don't think so. My squadron has a gaarv with their transmission and it's had to be replaced 4 times
>>
Allison

They use them in heavy equipment all over the world, and the ones that get put into consumer vehicles are overbuilt because they think in terms of heavy equipment/long term reliability.
>>
>>14680302
is that why they are always the go to gearbox specialists for race cars and custom builds ?

with a clutch that actually has a solid lockup and doesnt bleed power
>>
>>14680507
formula 1 cars then ? and rally cars ? and drag cars ? because I know that they use them so...
>>
>>14680920
Drag cars typically use lenco, b&j or just an over engineering c6 or power glide. The top ones just use multistage clutches. Just because you have a contract doesn't mean your product is worth a shit
>these transmissions are great because they stay in one of 2 gears
>>
>>14680984
what makes you think they have a contract ? they are completely right, and I know that too, go on there website you dip shit, they make gearbox's for cars in all types of motor sports and are highly recommended and used by everyone who knows even a little fucking bit about what they are talking about.

Eaton, or Allison

Yes, but only electronically, in the case that you have such a gearbox.
>>
>>14675134

TKO is garbage. Huge regrets going with a TKO 600. The 2nd to 3rd is garbage over 6,000 RPM even with expensive upgrades, shift kits, and carbon fiber backed synchros. If budget wasn't a thing I'd have a Holinger sequential behind my SBC. Since budget is a thing maybe someday I can afford a Jerico road race 5 speed. Last summer I finally saved up enough to buy a G-Force 5 speed with dog rings and a road race overdrive which is a beefed up T5, but they quit making them.

Honda's gearbox's are not always top notch, the one in my EP3 civic daily driver has broken twice and its less than 100,000 miles, when I say broke I mean the gearbox bearings have disintegrated making the car sound like a scrap heap as it drives along and clogging the box with metal flakes drawn to the gearbox magnet. Not really impressed, took it to a garage to get it an MOT and the guy who runs it said that these generation civics have those gearbox problems as a 'weak point'.
>>
>>14676919
Hell no.Explorers prove this point wrong, for the automatics.Even more so if it's got that ControlTrak installed.
