I'm entirely with you if your argument is aesthetics-wise, because that's literally what all your points were. But

>>14673275

Is right. Old school muscle is btfo'd by the new (uglier) generation
>>
>>14673259

>20inch wheels
Brakes are getting larger so they have to make wheels that fit over them, also safety standards are causing body lines to get higher so they use big wheels because small ones look silly otherwise.

>Lowered for rear wheel tuck
Not on any current factory car that I'm aware of.

>Thin Tires
Z/28 has 305 tires on all four corners, classic muscle cars came with fairly shitty and skinny tires from the factory.

>rear diffusers
Just there to allow different exhaust setups with different trim levels and engine platforms. Modularity is pretty important in mass produced cars with options.

>side skirts
Makes the car appear lower, gives the car better proportions to deal with the increased body lines.

>>14673271

Better design, more power, and fatter tires make them faster today. Here, have a picture of an un modified classic muscle car so you can see why the "thin tires" argument is dumb.

My idea of muscle cars is cheap old DIY speed machines.

Transplanting a mess of bolt on corvette kit parts into an old shell is a lot of money wasted just to look cool. Just buy a corvette.
>>
>>14675757

So do you have to fabricate your own parts to be a real muscle car? Or is it limited to swap meet parts? Can you put a truck engine in, or is that not "speed machine" enough?

People do cheap DIY pro-touring cars all the time, usually with Vortec swaps and a few bolt on parts because there is literally nothing else available to make them handle unless you want to fabricate an entire suspension yourself. There is nothing wrong with applying pre-made parts. Lots of muscle cars have done so. It's basically the same thing as putting an Explorer intake on a 5.0 except the coils are more expensive.

I can sort of see your point if you're exclusively referring to boomers who don't do any of the work themselves. Even then though, what's wrong with wanting a cool looking car? If they prefer the aesthetic of a 1971 Challenger why the fuck would they buy a C6 Corvette? Do you exclusively buy cars you think are ugly so that people don't mistake you as a poser?

tl;dr no
>>
>>14675740
>but neither do actual pro-touring cars
have you ever seen a pro touring car? they all have 20" wheels with shoe lace tires. even the select few that go to a track instead of being exclusively shown off at car shows, they still run with nigger tier wheels.

People that build these machines want a challenge and want to do something different from time to time. Regardless of what you think a muscle car should be, they can be much more. Also "cheap old DIY speed machines" is the hot rod culture, and can be applied to anything.

Except both being about showing how muscle cars can turn despite mostly being stock street cars. That's one thing in common. Are you retarded?

You see relatively low profile tires in some classes, yes. You didn't in the 1970s because there were no good low pro tires then.

There are plenty of pro-touring cars running respected street wheel manufacturers like Volks, BBS, etc. Boomers do put nigger wheels on some, but that's because boomers are fucking retarded faggots.
