>>
>>14671946
>REALLY SUPER GOOD in Gran Turismo 1

It weighed over 2800 lbs WITH the race mod. I found settings that allowed it to go over 240 MPH on the Test Course, but that came at the cost of it being able to slow down after reaching that speed
>>

>and dont blame the car on your inability to into wrenching :^)

I never fixed anything twice. The problem was that a completely new thing broke literally every month at the very least, and often every week. That's unacceptable unless you're a Shitsubishi pleb who expects your car to run less than half the time and counts anything better than that as a flawless victory

Most people hated the USDM and the EUDM cars because they used the 7m-gte instead of the 1jz-gte engine, even though the group A touring and rally version used them, albeit they were thoroughly tuned.

Also it had a bit of a "funky" suspension setup, and short steering lock.

>What's the longest your GTO MR has been on the road without breaking? (Assuming you're red GTO MR anon

In the last 10 years, its stopped working twice-
Dead battery that dropped some cells, because it was old
Starter motor died- got caught in a massive storm on the way home and had to drive through about half a foot of water, but its bearings where on the way out anyway so didn't really feel too cheated about it

Apart from that, anything else that was wearing out I just fixed up along the way, so all the little things don't turn into big things. I come from a mechanical family from dads side and been working on cars and bikes since I was 10, so for me its just 'Maintenance' and not a 'Problem' like a lot of people consider their vehicles maintenance to be. Its a 19 year old performance car now, some stuff will wear out eventually, but its not actually ever done anything catastrophic which was due to a manufacturers fault or shit engineering.
That said, there's a lot under there which I consider 'Japan Engineering' and made by people with tiny hands that smell like Sake, but otherwise the build quality is pretty high.

Looking back in hindsight over the last 20 years of cars I've owned- it is the 2nd most reliable next to the R34GTT, everything else I've owned was far more of a hassle to keep running.

You want a genuinely hard car to keep on the road- try anything from 1970's UK, 1980's Italy or 1990's era German and get back to me. Jap cars by and large are pretty reliable things

In between the S30 and Z32 it gets no love. One of the best looking cars of all time in my opinion, and the pop up headlights they've got are impeccable. The old 280ZX tail light design looks great as well as the later changed design albeit simple looking.
>>
>>14675330
They make pretty decent cars for people looking to do a little project, everything is so cheap.
Think when they knocked some the curves off them for the 80s it sort of killed it a bit in the looks dept, but otherwise they're not bad
>>
>>14675360
Yeah I'm looking to get one of my own to fix up, after hearing the easy power gains the VG30ET can get I'm sold. However I heard most companies who make the parts discontinued them a long time ago
>>
>>14671577
I wouldn't say universal, and a lot of the hate they get is pretty undeserved anyway.
>>
>>14671793
>>14671821
Well the car is great when it works...which after many years it doesn't
>>
>>14675400
Well I guess its been 30-odd years so stuff will get scarce. Should still be a fair bit of 2nd-hand and reconditioned bits around though, plus 'some' stuff from the 280 and Z32 will fit.
Otherwise a lot of the modern turbo's and engine management stuff slapped up to the 3L V6 should get them going along pretty well.

miatafags hate them and only miatafags drive such slow cars.

do you like going slow?
>>

god its such a shame, the car is so beautiful..

imagine if it was build properly, with less useless electronics, far less weight, and a reliable 3L turbo

Had a VR4, it was bad on gas, unreliable, not comfortable, and to top it off not even that fast. Took out a huge loan to buy it. Lucky for me another dumb kid came along bought it off me for 2k more then I spent on it.

Mom had one of these, exactly like in the pic, had modular rear seating, good gas mileage, cranking AC in the summer, and it would actually spin tires from the 3800, I loved that van

This goes for Suzuki in general, My local Suzuki dealer doesn't even have any Suzukis out front only trade in chevys and fords.

Are we talking about from a purely aesthetic viewpoint? Sure the body styling doesn't look that sharp because Pontiac's design language was shit, but the interior was the best ever in a Pontiac, and the performance is still good regardless if it weighs 3800 lbs or not

I have a 3000gt sl it is actually really nice I love it

>poor craftsmanship
>GTO

The GTO was an excellently built car. There's nothing poor quality about them. The sole reason for the unreliability is shitty owners who couldn't afford to maintain it.

It's not like a Skyline where you have half a dozen other nissans you can steal parts from

MK3 Supras used to be super popular here, and MK2 are probably one of /o/s favorite cars. We hate on it because it really sucks performance wise, but its a good car

There was a black RX-7 for sale near me for £8k, with 67k miles. Why didn't I buy it.

Doesn't the Dodge Stealth TT not get any of the gizmos and gadgets? Why are they also seen as unreliable of that's all the shit that breaks.

I currently have 2 300zxs and one fox body. The Mustang is awesome, sounds mean and feels raw and violent, heavy clutch, notch shifter and heavy steering. The 300zx is a very refined chassis, I love the looks of it, how wide and low it is, love the driving position, T tops, a complete opposite of the Mustang. The second 300zx that I have does not have an engine. It would be cool putting a 5.0 or LS in it
>>
>>14690792

300ZX TTs are kinda garbage stock

i like the GTO.

i onwed one, it was pretty great driving, very fast in the corners and the straights.
>>
>>14671478
the 3kgt will outrun all of them, but will be the most expensive to mantain.

if you're not a serious lover who's willing to drop serious cash in repairs, i'd go for the 300ZX twin turbo, although it is a bitch to work on.

As an ex-owner of a 94 3000gt vr4 I can attest. Past owner molested it daily and I had to replace a bunch of parts. Once it was repaired it ran fine, some minor issues but in the end was great. Time of sale I had it at around 410whp. I needed a more practical car and got a Q50 awd, fun but the drive by wire steering kills some of the fun, still a great car.
