I'm in Cali now, on a motorcycle, so I might press my luck a little more, if traffic is slow enough and I can split lanes.
That said, I'd never run frim a cop with their lights on, if it was at all understood that he was after me. Great way to fuck your life up.
From what I read, cops are trained to not turn on lights/siren until they're sure they can make a stop, especially for motorcycles, because they fear they'll spook people into running if they do it while we believe we have a chance of getting away.
So, from what I understand, they're kinda getting into prime pull over position and sizing you up until they're right on top of you.

I was on my way to work when CHP starts to follow me for doing 70. They follow me off the freeway for another half mile before the lights come on. I thought I was just going to get a chickenshit speeding ticket but he asked me questions. Questions like is that your bike, has it always been that color, do you always wear that outfit, that red backpack, has that part always been damaged, etc.. So like an idiot I incriminated myself and yes to all of the above. He asked me to sit tight and wait for another officer to arrive.
The oher officer comes and immediately cuffs me. He said he'd give me one chance to confess or I'd be arrested for felony evading arrest and they'll impound my vehicle for 30 days pending investigation (something like 3000 in fines for impound). If I confess he'll drop the charges to reckless driving.

in the uk its EXTREMELY difficult to get away with things like this if you get caught speeding on dash cam chances are you should expect a fine in the post and points on your license due to being caught on ANPR. i sat in a police cruiser while i waited for an ambulance after a car crash and the number plate of every car within 200m that got caught on dash cam was read and scanned in real time on the screen for crimes flagged to do with that number plate or whether it had insurance or not.

Also apparently it was a silver and black ZX-6R with red rims like mine, had the same illegal tail tidy so they couldn't see the license plate, had the same damage all around, etc..of course I matched the rider description. I tried to tell him that other than the tail tidy my bike was stock but he wouldn't have it and said my bike and its decals were mostly aftermarket so my bike was unique. Oh and the chances of another biker wearing a black jacket and helmet were too slim to be reasonable.
What the fuck? Finally after an hour of arguing he let me go. If he was going to arrest me he wouldnt have had to talk to me for an hour he could have just brought me in.

I have no idea why fish and game was out there, there isn't any place to fish, and not known for hunting. That and I've been out there dozens of times and never seen anyone out there.

Amazingly the car is okay, and I've been running it since with no issue.
i didn't 'run' from them, but i've passed cops when I was in modified car so wasn't allowed to drive it (though they've changed that now), and didn't have provisional plates (next up from learners in aus).
it was just a normal cop ute though. wasn't highway patrol. but I paniced and as soon as i passed and got around first corner I started speeding like hell. that was also first time I got oversteer in fwd car. was going around corner at about 100 and this was pretty tight corner, got understeer so put on brakes and that turned into oversteer but corrected it out easy without panicking and overcorrected straight into side of road
in that road though even with the highway patrols that drive here in V8s, once I got to the tight corners or downhill I'd probably be able to outrun them enough to lose sight and hide somewhere.
but if cop actually flashed lights at me I wouldn't do a runner. it's better just to take the speeding fine in a car

I know all the spots where cops can hide and their approximate schedule. I don't need to run from them because they simply can't get me doing anything wrong. If I get pulled over I act all humble and desperately cooperative, always worked so far. I risked when I got smug and sounded false one time so the cops searched me and my car trying to get me to say I had drugs in it for some reason. They looked actually mad to have to let me go. It was probably a breach of my rights but I didn't really care because I don't do drugs.

The "I turned my lights off" thing is bullshit and a meme because I did the same thing and they saw me from like 2 miles down because of my brake lights.
Only alternative was stopping at the same time my friend did, but probably would have gotten my shit impounded and sent to jail anyways since they had started cracking down on the street racing groups pretty hard.
