talk me out of buying this 2008 or 2009 caddy CTS both with 125k miles and both around 10k

> spending 40k for a 12 mpg car in a dense city
That's a lot of miles.
>>14650909
yeah for a car i guess, I used to own trucks so anything under 200k was fine. Prices seem pretty strange here though because I see even corollas with 100k miles selling for 6-7k..
>>14650937
Toyotas always resale high because muh Toyota reliable etc.
125mi on a Cadillac though.... I honestly don't know. I guess GM is alright now? Not really in the know on that.
I would be on autotrader/craigslist/kbb right now seeing what 2008/9 Lexus ISes are going for as a reference point.
>>14651010
same year/milage range lexus go for 3-5k more it seems with worse interiors. I think I remember reading something about the CTS in this generation being ranked top 10 engines but ill have to find it again
>>14650785
I am same, I want one
Apparently the maintenance+parts are crazy priced
>>14651061
yeah checked again every lexus nearby between 2007-2011 has 95-110k miles and is 4k more OR has a salvage/rebuilt title and is around the same price
>>14651066
on the CTS forums apparently maintenance isn't much different than a ford/chevy aside from requiring synthetic oil
>>14651087
best one i can find is a gs350 2007 with 140k miles for 12k
if it doesn't have the premium package
>cooled seats
>panoramic sunroof
>keyless start with remote start and keyless access
>folding rear seats
literally don't even bother
>>14650881
>not buying an electric car
>>14650785
I will automatically think you're some 60 year old grandpa. Only old cougars (which might not be a bad thing if thats your thing) will be attracted to your car
>>14651244
hm the ads do a pretty shitty job listing all the options but i think you are right as far as resale value goes
>>14651250
>wanting a meme 100 hp car
>>14651271
thats fine, im married and I have the persona of a old dad anyway
>>14651369
used car dealers don't know fucking shit about option packages, you need to examine pictures
look for a chrome paddle-looking-thing where the key would normally go on the steering wheel, that's the keyless start thing and that means it has the premium package
also look for a little joystick looking thing on the left side of the steering column, that's the electric adjustable steering wheel position thing which is also a premium-package-only option

Chevy volt is goat
>>14651244
hm i found one private sale for 8k with 115k miles, chrome (factory) rims, heated seats, moon roof, and claims it has the "suspension" package
>>14651394
okay cool looks like the first two from the dealerships are not premium package because they have the keys in them, and the private party one i found has the little joystick you were talking about. Think ill give this guy a call, i can probably talk him down to 7500 and it seems like a good deal.

listen for timing chain rattle on startup, the chains in these things like to stretch a bit and will eventually break, it's not that costly a fix but it's something to keep in mind
