Having sat in both, the Mercedes is much more comfortable. Although the BMW is a bit more driver oriented. Overall they're both great cars, but I'd pick the Mercedes.

This. Drove the 335i and C400. Ended up with IS350 because it was a better package overall (engine, transmission, price, reliability, build quality, and looks). Also, it felt like the engine, transmission, suspension, and steering were tuned to perfectly match each other, which wasn't the case in the other cars.

It looks pretty good IRL to me. I'm >>14648823 and I've gotten tons of compliments over the 8 months I've had mine. I've even seen people taking pictures of it in parking lots and stuff. That's something that would never happen if you drove a 3 series or C class because they're designed very conservatively. Also it's built much better than the 3 series. The new C class is a little above it in interior quality though.

I agree. I'm the Anon with the IS350. The infotainment isn't as bad as reviewers say, but it's not that great either. It's easy to navigate around with the mouse thing once you get used to it. The shittiest thing is entering an address with it. You're better off just using the voice commands to type it. The German cars I tried were a bit better, but not by much.
I have always preferred Mercedes.
Especially recently when BMW seems a bit more lower class, especially after 2000.
Like it was meant to appeal to a foreign market.

People called Lexus boring and the CEO wanted to change their image a few years back. So they created the LFA and the IS-F as the beginning of their sports luxury offerings. Now they offer the RC-F (kinda crap M4 competitor) and the GS-F (actually good M5 competitor). F is their response to M, and while it isn't on the same level and doesn't have the brand prestige, each new car they come out with is better than the last.
For their normal cars (e.g. IS, RC, GS, etc.), they offer F-Sport packages much like the M-sport packages on 335is and stuff.

The C is comfier and feels more premium
The 3 series drives a lot better . The C feels like you are disconnected from the road . Not a bad thing for a commuter . The 3 series has a better chassis . Steering feel however is painfully numb .

They were separated on the last two generations and they were both considered boring.
The change is for the better. Plus, it is helping Lexus attract a younger demographic, which is important for longevity.
