CAN ANYONE IDENTIFY THIS ENGINE?
He doesn't say which make and model on his site :/
Can anyone think of the perfect hoverbike engine?
I'd really, really want to make my own hoverbike one day if I'm ever going to stop being such a poor dumb douche.

The perfect hoverbike would have an electric motor, not an internal combustion engine.
The only problem would be battery life.

And battery weight. And recharging.
As a weight to energy ratio, gasoline engines are better than batteries by a mile and the ability to fill up at gas stations is great, too.
Look at the picture. It's amazing. So few parts.

I'd say it's one of BMW's modern air cooled motorcycle engines, which one exactly i'm not sure.
Could be out of one of the R1200 or 1150's.

For comparison, this is out of the R1150 RT
...what are you planning OP?

Is that the best engine choice for this application? Is there another motor that's more powerful and efficient within the same weight and size range?

NOTHING. I've got no job, no friends, no life, no money, I'm a felon, I get spied on, I'm stupid as fuck, and I'm pretty much just waiting for death.
I still like to daydream though.

It's a pretty good engine for that application, a lot of them are fitted with reduction gearboxes for use in microlight aircraft. It's not particularly heavy, simple and reliable and, most importantly for aircraft, it's the right kind of shape - it pretty much disappears within the outline of a small plane or that hoverbike

Looks like you could profile a good chunk of the weight off of that.
Or am I crazy for thinking it?

>Is that the best engine choice for this application? Is there another motor that's more powerful and efficient within the same weight and size range?
It's pretty much perfect for such applications, it's well balanced, simple, reliable, extremely torquey and compact.
Also if you plan on putting a motor in the air, this really isn't the place to ask, do the rounds on ultralight and other kit aircraft forums.

None of them are like this, where I don't have to enter any personal information and don't have to worry about any of you spying on me.
Right? ...right?

>Can't be assed to take 2 minutes to create a throw away email
>Thinks he's going to spend thousands of hours building a hover bike
Good luck with that.

I already said, my life is kinda shit so I enjoy daydreaming.
Bump for any possible additional info
