What are your thoughts and opinions on this car?
It's an Opel Manta A.
Had the opportunity to get one for free from my dads uncle. I thought i would fix it up and sell it for a hefty profit.

do it, drop in a 280hp manta mk2 engine or a 2 litre one from an SRI.
do not be tempted to put bigger wheels and lower profile tyres on it though or you will never steer the fucker in a 3 point turn.

oh and if it's got the 1800 engine, do not touch it, its an "interference" style engine and if the timing belt goes your tapets will kick shit out of your pistons and grenade the whole bloody engine.

Seems pretty common to put sbc's in them, but im not a big fan of crossplane V8s. I would prefer to put a highrevving i4 in it, or if possible (most likely not) an i6.
Great looks, RWD and light. What more could you want?
Also, don't ruin its handling with a stupid pigfat American engine.
It doesn't need more than 150hp to be very fun.
If you wan't to swap, go for the Cosworth designed CX20E from the Opel Calibra.
You could even drop the EFI infavor of 2 Weber 45 or 47 to keep the look of the time.

So change it every 10 thousand ks so it doesn't. Fuck sake timing belts aren't the devil. If you put a new one on it will last what's left of the life of the car
