Long story short, my GF totaled my beater a few weeks ago. I've been driving classics my whole life, but needed a bit more utility this time around. I've been wanting one of these ever since I was a kid.
What's /o/ think about Chevy Square bodies?

Shit that's clean. I need (to be inside it)!
How much?
Also, curse the anons that can somehow keep buying these things absolutely mint for like $2K.

$4,000, originally from FL. It's pretty damn solid. Wishing it was a step side but a short bed was my 2nd choice.

>Chevy Square bodies
You done real, real good, OP.
>>14630296
Does that two tone beauty belong to you?
>>14630251
They didn't make stepsides back then, dingus. All the stepsides you've seen were conversions. Just go to a junkyard and buy a stepside bed off an older model.

>Chebby square bodies
All of my boners

what are you talking about they made stepsides?
>>14630171
Mines a 78. They're pretty gud.

How do you DD classics your whole life? I guess if you're good at wrenching you could do it these days because of cheap gas, but if gas goes up you're screwed. Also, do you spend every weekend replacing a part that has failed due to age?
I ask because I adore the aesthetics and functionality of a few specific 80s cars, but I don't think I could ever have one as my only car because I'm not rich and I can't afford to break down all the time.

Welcome to the square body club.

I DD my truck, it's 35 years old. The only thing in almost a year and over 20,000 miles that's actually failed outright was my wiper motor. $50 and replaced in the orielys parking lot in 10 minutes.

Has it been restored or something?
>>14633220
Nope, completely stock besides things I've done just as general maintenance and whatnot. Bought it off a guy who just abused the hell out of it and didn't take care of it. These things are just bullet proof and will drive till the frame rots out from under itself.

They most certainly did make stepside beds in 1979. You could choose between a long and short stepside bed, from the factory, not a conversion.
