Efficiency as in horsepower per PSi on a Turbocharger. Not MPG.
The same PSi on an STi will net you more horsepower on the FRS/BRZ engine.

The verdict is: some people like it, some people don't. It filled a small niche in the US when it was initially released, but has since then not sold as well. It's simple car for enthusiasts that may not be the best bang for your buck to go in straight line or set the fastest time on a circuit, but its a great platform to make your own. Subjectively if you ask me it's a great looking car, which is definitely a plus.
