Anons I have a dilemma, I have R300'000.00 to spend on a sportscar and I want something pretty

I was looking at a low mileage 350z (65000 on the clock) which is for sale for 189K so I'd have some money incase shit hits the fan or a Toyota GT86 (I know it's not fast but it's very pretty and I can always engine swap when I need more power) with 15000km on the clock and a full service plan for 230K

What should I buy?
>>
>R300'000.00
you need real money to buy a car

Rands are shit I know

Not like I voted in our terrible fucking government
>>
>SA

Hook me up with a Superboss or 325iS, please.

Get an S2000.
>>
get a classic one. you won't regret it.

you'll look like you have taste and not some fuckwit who goes "NEED SPORTS CAR, BETTER BUY A PORSCHE"
>>
>>14627196

S2000 looks a little girly to me, if I could find a superboss or 325iS then sure

>>14627211

I'd love a datsun 240z but it's just way too expensive for me, not much interest in others
>>
What's life like in SA?

Also the 350Z should be good fun if you can get your hands on a HR version.

As for the 86 you've got aftermarket options out the ass, no need to swap out the engine.

If it's HR, get the 350Z. If not, 86.
>>
Aren't STis rather popular in SA? They're good. As are Evos (7-9).

Though...popular usually spells expensive.
>>
>>14627289

Well I've got rich parents so life in SA is awesome

If you're not financially secure though you're fucked, it really is a country where not having money fucks you over, no private security, Debt wrecks you because of the high inflation rate, petrol here is low quality and overpriced (93 unleaded is about R12.50 per litre)

Cars here are super overpriced but housing and entertainment is super cheap

Amazing food, wine and beer and the girls here are Wow levels of hot
>>
>>14627293

All the ones I've seen and taken for test drives have been driven by boy racers and are pretty wrecked internally, a new one is out my price range unfortunately

Fair enough, but as long as you've got the means to enjoy yourself I say go wild. What's the rule on imports? If you can import over old Jap shit easy you've got an even wider market to work with.

Also how true is this shit?
>>
>>14627316
Figured as much. Howsabout an M3? E36 or E46.
>>
clearly you should get this

Completely true, you don't go to the city center of Johannesburg

I live in a place called Dainfern Valley so that stuff never affects me personally but our maid now lives with us because the city centre (hillbrow) is such a shithole

>>14627328
We have plenty of them here but it's they're usually stolen by coloureds (that's what we call mixed race people) and the engines taken out and swapped with 1.8 litre things

>>14627389

Bit too afrikaans for me hey boet

auto or manual?
>>
>>14627094
Praat jy Afrikaans?

Aren't BMWs astronomically cheap there? My company buys our parts from the SA BMW dealer network instead of the local North America branch and they're always about 50%-200% cheaper than the identical US/German/Mexican/Brazilian parts. Call operators always laugh at mock us over how expensive 3 series are here. 300,000 Rand is like 20,000 USD. Why not go for a lightly used 335i or older M3?

My parents bought me the Volvo but that's the extent of financial aid I'm getting from them

Doesn't mean they'll pay upkeep for an unreliable (and uninteresting) car.

>Ek praat 'n bietjie maar ek is 'n engelse man

Same here. N bietjie, maar nie genoeg om n goed gesprek. English as in UK born or of English decent?

>I've got a Volvo V40 as a DD so I'm not that keen on getting a bimmer, I want something that looks like a sports car you know?

I get what you mean. I don't know what your opinion on American cars is or what importation from here to SA would be but a previous generation Camaro might be something to consider. 400hp, RWD, and fairly reliable. They actually handle quite well despite the American car stereotype too. They're as common as VW sedans here so you could probably grab one well under your budget in good condition. The engine design is as simple as a V8 can be so maintaining one should be cheap as well even considering having parts shipped. Given the current SA market it looks like Nissan stuff is the best way to go for what you're looking for. If not the Camaro the Z is your best bet.
>>
>>14627568

English descent, a camaro would be awesome but importing here is difficult and I'd like to test drive before I buy
>>
>>14627510
Rich parents is not any good reason to grant yourself the carte blanche entitlement of access to their income to maintain an unreliable vehicle chosen with bad judgement.

I have rich family too and put up with driving a C-Class with a blown gasket and then an aging CR-V. Crutching yourself for the sake of image isn't a positive.
>>
>>14627589

^ exactly this, I'm not rich, my parents are
>>
Thanks for the help /o/ I think I'm going to go for the 350z :)
