so should i just save up and buy a used car?

I found a few older model cars in my price range that seem decent but every car that I look up gets mixed reviews, whether its mileage or transmission issues.
How can I decide on a good used ccar when 99% of all cars get shitty reviews?

i meant save up and buy a NEW car..

>>14610222
Yes.

>>14610224
No.
>>
>>14610370
so what are you saying?
>>
>>14610222
post your local craigslist and budget and what you want in a car.
>>
>>14610222
No, just buy a new-ISH car. One only a few years old.
I suggest a Ford Focus. I own a 2011 one, and it's pretty nice. Just don't buy the base model.

just need something gas efficient and reliable, i dont trust or want to go through the hassle of a private seller
my budget is 8k possibly 10k
>>14610723
i would buy a new-ish car but most are a little out of my budget, found a 2014 ford focus but its 13k
>>
>>14610819
is that cash or financing?

>i dont trust or want to go through the hassle of a private seller

not that much hassle if you know what you are doing. Call the owner, ask him his ethnicity and favorite sport. We all know what the right answer to the first question is.. oddly enough the answer to the second is soccer.

I have purchased three cars from cl. in all cases the car i got was owned by somebody that played soccer. This was after walking away from about 66% of the other cars.

Buying from a dealer ads 10 to 20% to the price, if not more.
>>
>>14610819
Well, go ask a dealer if they have something around your budget?

Do you not have a site like autotrader over there, where you can search by price?

you can argue him down to 10k.. especially if he keeps the stupid wheels.

Why shouldn't he?

those cars are objectively ugly and probably older than he wants. He said he wants something efficient, a v8 mustang isn't.
found this tho

I would go with one of these, OP. Depending on your taste. I also like >>14611022
but a bit pricey
>>
>>14614232
Well those are the most fuel efficient that came up when I typed in "records". A V8 mustang would get mid 20s on the highway. Not terrible.
>>
>>14614278
not bad, still ugly as fuck. maybe with different wheels. I hate the look of most cars from late 90s to early 00s. But if op likes them a lot, not bad choices.
>>
>>14614278
>anything V8
>efficient
Fuck off shitposter.

every single car has strengths and weaknesses and quirks of their own. new cars aren't devoid of these problems, the ads just promise you that they're perfect.

don't let the reviews get you down, unless the things being mentioned make the car unsafe, or unfeasible economically, or if it's something that you personally couldn't live with.

the number one thing that i can recommend is getting the car looked over by a mechanic, preferably your go-to mechanic (i assume you would trust this person since they work on your other vehicles). they will see things that your untrained eye will miss. and for rare / finicky / luxury vehicles (think volvo), finding a dealership or a specialty mechanic might be the way to go.

and on the new car thing, i say that's a sucker's game. at least get a certified pre-owned that someone else ate a portion of the depreciation on. why spend $25k on a new when you can get a year old model for $15k?

The stock wheels fit the car better
I've been drooling over this one in my area
