Dear /o/,

What the fuck is this? It's on a 2013 Mazdaspeed3

Never mind, it's a JBR short shift plate, apparently.

...thanks Google
>>
Take a guess. There's a cable, and it's in your transmission.
>>
>what the hell is the air filter doing so close to the transmission?
>Oh right
>fwd
>>
>>14598029

Yeah, I'm retarded.
>>
>>14598039

>FWD meme

Yes it is FWD but I don't care. I enjoy the car a whole lot and it is perfect for my life and interest level. I have zero interest in tracking or street racing it.

Looks like you answered your own question. Do you know if the solid shifter bushing have been installed as well? Really helps remove some of the slop while shifting.
>>
>>14598083

I don't know for sure but I do believe so. Shifting is extremely fluid and easy. Very rarely do I encounter anything but a perfectly smooth shift into gear.
>>
>>14598160
Sounds good senpai. Are you on MSF? Best resource for Mazdaspeeds.

I know, can't even come in first in the Continental ST series. Oh wait.
>>
>>14598182

I'm not yet, no. Previous owner also installed a Corksport CAI, battery and ECU relocation box and I think that's it.

So far absolutely loving the car in every way. Much much better than my 2010 Vibe GT lol
>>
>>14598211
From your OP shot it looks like a SRI (short ram intake) instead of a CAI (cold air intake). You probably can't tell but do you know if a TIP (turbo intake pipe) was installed with that SRI?

Though with the battery and ECU reloc sounds like they installed a 3.5" widepath intake previously (either that or that's the current one installed).
>>
>>14598227

Yeah the relocate box was installed. I believe the TIP wass ass well.
>>
>>14598236
That sucks. How much is it going to cost to return it to stock?
>>
>>14598289

Why does that suck?
>>
>>14598046

But when you load it up full of shit then all the weight will be over the rear wheels. Do you even truck?

Can confirm, became a stancefag with a hatch full of wood flooring.

>>14598320
He likes his engine bays nice and tight with barely any room to maneuver your hands through, like a loli or Z32 TT.

>>14598349

I do not truck, no. Whenever I need one I borrow my dad's or rent one.

>>14598384

Fuck that. The engine bay in these things is already kind of cramped and tight in a few spaces.

Here's my ms3 by the way.

Oh and the only thing that the Vibe GT had that I liked more was the sound system. The 10 speaker Bose unit blows cocks in comparison. Buuuut I don't much care because it's good enough and I like turbo sounds a lot.
>>
>>14598320
>Why does that suck?
The presence of bullshit "performance" mods indicates that your car has been beat on.
>>
>>14598519
>2013 GenPu
Nice, yeah the Bose system is passable, but isn't great. I've debated about upgrading it but always come back to wanting more go fast bits instead.
>>
>>14598542

Most likely, but seeing as how you can't but a new MS3 these days and I wanted one, what can you do? Had mine checked out and there's not a thing wrong with it. Has less than 29,000 miles on it so not too bad. I'm still weary of the mods put on it but oh well. I'm happy with the car and if anything goes wrong I'll take care of it.

>>14598631
The only thing that that I want to do is add a cat back exhaust honestly. Go fast bits are tempting but I don't want to endager reliability more than it always has been.
>>
>>14598519
Sexy af bro. I just have a 2.5 NA, but I know its only a hollow shell of the MS3. How much did you pay? And is the oversteer that much of a bitch?
>>
>>14598542
For what it's worth, I used to be in the FWD Mazda community, and most of the guys I met would throw a bunch of bolt-ons on their car but never actually use them for anything other than the occasional freeway pull.
>>
>>14598796
Well with that aftermarket intake, make sure you at least get a Cobb AP and upgrade your fuel pump internals (always assume previous owner hasn't) to keep that reliability up then.

>>14598818
>oversteer
Do you mean torquesteer? It's manageable and can be negated a bunch with better engine mounts.
>>
>>14598818

I paid $18,000 flat. 28,000 something miles on it. 2013 with tech package, navigation (which was standard I believe), 10 speaker Bose system (which is just okay, my 2010 Vibe GT had a much better system).

Short ram air intake, turbo inlet pipe, ECU relocation/ battery box, short shift plate. Came with the original air intake box and all the piping.

The torque steer isnt bad at all honestly and I don't understand all of the reviewers saying it has a harsh ride. It rides a lot smoother than my Vibe GT (which was completely stock and in perfect condition).

The turbo sounds are very easy to hear but not overly loud. Exhaust sound is okay but not great. Strongly considering a cat back exhaust system.

>>14598845

Yeah, I drive mine for fun through corners a lot but highway pulls are boring to me. I like the turbo sounds and pretty quick acceleration, but I love it in the turns. Oversteer isn't too bad for the speeds I've been going, but honestly I haven't pushed it to the limits yet because I just got the car.

>>14598854
Alright thanks for the advice, man. I appreciate it. Any other reliability focused upgrades? What about a catch can?
>>
>>14598911
If you don't want to be cleaning your intake valves very often, OCC and EGR delete are good (depending on emissions regulations in your area). There's a lot of blow-by and the oil will gunk itself up on that 4th intake valve pretty bad because of the EGR system.

Something else to consider is using Rotella T6 for motor oil.

Ohio doesn't care about emissions at all. Wouldn't an EGR delete throw an engine code and make the check engine light come on?

As far as catch cans, Corksport makes one for a little less than $300, but for what it does, would it be alright to make one myself? I've seen custom made ones quite a few times and as long as all of the piping and what not works, is it an issue? I don't mind spending $300 or whatever to get the job done, but if I can do that for cheaper, is there any reason not to?

Are you gonna restore it to factory original?
>>
>>14600422

Probably not, honestly. Don't see much of a reason to. I can always go to a dyno and see if it has lost power and then go from there
>>
>>14600391
I'd probably get a Damond Motorsports CC, they also have an EGR kit.

https://damondmotorsports.com/collections/mazda

As far as engine codes, IIRC no...but even if you do with the Cobb AP from earlier you can delete the code from showing up.

>>14598015
Mazda's are girl cars, prove me wrong.
>>
Was this a fucking FWD vs. RWD thread in disguise?
>>
>>14603057

Certainly wasn't my intent, but faggots will be faggots.

>>14602218
Alright thanks man. I will look into that too.
