ITT post crap versions of cars that are otherwise good.
E30 318i convertible.
E30s are slow, but they're pretty light, and fun to drive. E30 convertibles are dreadful; they're painfully slow and have a bendy chassis. Enter the 318i convertible; it's a bit lighter than the 325 but makes around 40 less horsepower and is particularly garbage when equipped with an automatic. I had the displeasure of driving one of these recently.
>318 is slow
>he doesn't know the 316

I do know the 316, and I would take a 316 coupe or sedan over a 318 convertible
>>14597717
>automatic
There's your problem.
Also, a convertible 325i can go pretty good if you know how to push it.

Most vert versions of cars suck, the only verts that don't are the ones that were designed as verts from the get go.
Also if you're good with a wrench the m10 and m20 are woken up with a good turbo system, and the verts can be stiffened with an x brace

I'd rather nominate the 320i for shittiest E30.
>fuel economy of a 325
>no torque, performance of a 318
They run smooth though.
4cyl 3-series are still decent econoboxes, just not fast.
The E34 518i on the other hand is a step to far

>what a neat a little convertible, that would be perfect for my 16 year old daughter, I wonder if it comes in yellow?
Stacy doesn't deserve anything better.

>a convertible 325i can go pretty good
No
>>14597914
true
Imho one of the worst offenders:
Nissan 350 convertible
>as if the 350 wasn't heavy enough, the convertible adds another 200 kilos
>softer suspension than the coupe
>most ordered with two pedals
>proportions all fucked up
>cheaping out on range in an electric car
>if they can't even afford the extra range, you know damn well it's going to have no other options either
>>14598102
friend of mine had a E36 316i.. convertible.
That's about 100hp vs. 1480 kg kek
>>14598139
>100 freedom units
>1480 socialism units
Make up your mind, stupid
>>14598159
HP is very nearly the same as PS, especially in such a range. The difference is 1.4%.
>>14598159
hp is just a translation for ps to me, you can keep your 1,4%
>>14598206
exactly
>>14598139
That's disgusting.
>>14597961
I'd say they can
My friend drives a 93 with a manual top and some chassis stiffening along with new shocks and lowering springs and that car is tons of fun. Not fast but he just does the speed limit going sideways so....
