What's /o/'s opinion on the 4th gen f-body? Are they worth buying?

Definately. They last forever and provide infinite fun. You'll have to upgrade some things if you're going to be hard on it, but that's to be said with every car.
Depends on how much you're paying. Really all you want is a strong motor and ok (per f body standards) interior. You buy those things for the motor essentially. Just recently got out of mine. Full bolt ons, stalled auto ls1. Fun car for sure but lacks in certain areas.

How horrible are the engines to work on?
How do they handle compared to a Corvette?
I can get either an LT1 Vette or LS1 Firebird for around $6K and so far the vette is looking a lot more livable.
Get a turd gen and LS1/T56 swap it. You'll have a nicer interior and it doesn't look like literal shit.

Awful. Half the engine is under the windshield. It's hard enough getting to the rearmost spark plugs on a 3rd gen as it is.

Can't speak about a c4, but I have a c5. If it was between c4/vs ls1 f body I would choose f body. I enjoy their styling a lot more than c4. The c4 really dates itself in terms of styling. My full suspension f body handled pretty well on the streets though. Working on isn't too bad. Kind of a bitch though as almost half the engine sits underneath the cowl so spark plugs are a pain

True, the 4th gens will always have that "bloated" look about them. Vettes always have that svelte look for them. But I'd take an ss or ws6 based on looks alone over a c4. In my (biased) eyes it's easier to make a 4th gen look mean vs having a cool c4. Plus ls1>lt1.
