The good news is they used 4.0 Rover V8s in a lot of stuff, bad news is cost of maintenance.

The rear lift gates rot out and the Rover V8's like to blow head gaskets at ~130-150k miles.

Old RRs break as much as new ones, the only difference is that you can fix way more with a wrench kit and a multimeter.

Spare parts are insanely expensive.
Brits never got the hang of keeping oil inside the engine.
Electrical issues, but not as bad as discovery series.

Depends, I consider my '98 explorer 5.0 a truck since it literally built on a truck frame and has the exact same components as a truck. Heavy duty trans, V8, suspension.. etc...
Some SUV's like escapes obviously arnt though.
