it is a lifted fiat to be honest. Depends on what you expect from it

Looking for a new commuter that I can have some fun with
OP can't inb4 you fucking newfag and that lifted Fiat is terrible.
>>14582855
Why is it terrible?
>>14582852
by fun , you mean ? little offroad ? Few inches of snow fun ? mud fun >
>>14582837
Lifted Fiat with a fancy gearbox and fisher price styling.
I still kinda like it for some reason, though.
I just wish jeep would just make a dune-buggy inspired off-roadster likes this concept.
>>14582862
Little offroad, nothing crazy- need something cheap with some room, able to haul camera gear for work
Currently driving a 2012 Mazda 3
>>14582864
I don't know shit about Fiat but every complaint I read about the Renegade is just that; "it's a lifted fiat..." So what? It's cheap and rides nice imo, and feels like a jeep to me, a lot fucking better than a compass
>>14582869
for everyday driving you good mate! that 9 speed auto is a headache imo.
>>14582889
Really, how come?
>>14582852
Shut up and buy a civic for <5k
>>14582869
Honestly there isn't really such thing as a little offroad, even if you only want to wheel every second or third week you get the bug and you just want more. I've seen it too often with Liberty guys who show up and of course their crap is always getting stuck on the most basic obstacles. Eventually they either give up or they sell the Liberty buy a Wrangler and never look back.
For probably around half the cost of a Renegade (especially if you're in the states) you could get a pretty decent used Wrangler and put the rest of the cash towards adding fun stuff to it.
>>14582936
Actually this. Shut up and buy a TJ for <10k. Stock. With the 4.0.
>>14582917
dunno , would not trust em
You can't get a m/t wirh the 2.4. You can't have one in any of the higher trims. Don't risk a fiat and Chrysler collaboration with a new gearbox.
Too expensive when properly optioned to be off road capable.
only good jeep remaining is the wrangler really if you plan some offroad duty!
>>14582936
I was looking at wranglers, and I do like them- but I drive a lot for work, all over the states... so the fuel economy is an issue. The reason I say " a little ofroad" is because I shoot outdoor television shows, so a lot of the shoots are in muddy areas near wet land, rocky stuff, etc.
>>14582969
Any vehicle with good tires. And awd if it makes you sleep better at night.
>>14582837
My thoughts when seeing that jeep?
"God damn, why won't they just bring the Jimny to the states already?"
>>14583131
Because it is subject to the chicken tax and would be unprofitable.
>>14583320
Would it? I thought that was only for pickups and commercial vans. Is it the 2 door aspect that ruins it? We get the 4runner straight outta Japan, same with gx460, land cruiser, and lx570.
If anything safety standards would limit it, not to mention the samurai hit piece by consumer guide back in the day.
>>14582969
I own a CJ and a TJ. While I love them both, in no way would I recommend a Wrangler for your needs. They are simply not worth the money, IMHO. If they were priced lower it would justify the sacrifices for DD use, but they are not. Especially for long distance.
Personally, I would consider a used 4runner.

It's a ZF auto, basically the next generation of the 8HP that almost every BMW and many other cars have. I've driven the Cherokee with the 9HP and it's quite nice. I've also seen the Renegade at a Fiat dealership and it's a good little car. It's spacious enough for a DD and the quality is alright.
Also, I work for ZF and we had many Renegades driving around our plant when they were testing the transmission.

>We get the 4runner straight outta Japan

Hate to tell you, but badge origin does not equal region of manufacture. The 4 Runner sure as hell doesn't come from Japan.

Now that Wranglers are a posh, cushioned, and well-insulated yacht for baby boomer idiots and soccer moms you can just get that instead
From this month's Consumer Reports.
>>14583131
lol why does everyone here have a hard on for the jimny? Have you even driven one? They're complete pieces of shit.

He probably thinks the titan, tundra and ridgeline are jap too.

- You can fit two in a standard garage
- It's great off-road if equipped with comically oversized tires
- It's body-on-frame which everyone knows is the only way real cars are made
- It's kawaii as shit

Taking into account even a Panda 4x4 is better than 99% of the """""""""""""offroad""""""""""" marketed SUV/CUVs, this can't be worse.
