>1999 K1500 4WD Pickup
Just bought mevotech tie rods, inner and outer and Monroe shocks. Looking behind the wheel hub, I can pinpoint the tie rod end, but looking at the inner, it doesn't look like it connects with the 90 degree angle into the center link like everything else. If I take the boot off of the inner tie rod, would it be there?

>Derp, going to get an alignment after replacing these parts. Friends doing labor, I'm his wrench monkey. Trying to stop being a manchild because I don't want a car payment.

Pretty sure I dun goof'd because my steering is probably rack/pinion instead of the other one with a center link.

When I look up production numbers of cars, like, exact production numbers, they usually end in 9. 2999 cars instead of 3000. This is especially common on older cars. Why? What happens to that one extra car? Does it go to a museum somewhere that houses one of each kind of car or something or is it just coincidence.
>>

>Japanese cars
>RDW
>something not too sporty
>RDW
Unfortunately you'll probably be stuck in the mud with that one. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but if you're looking for anything relatively new with RWD then it will have to be a sports car. Or luxury. I know BMWs are RWD. I believe some SUVs too. I'm assuming you want a sedan/coupe though.

Japan, or at least Honda, will make some pretty cool sports looking cars but then make them FWD. Not sure why. Mazda does the same with the MazdaSpeed.

You could get a roadster. Like a Miata or S2000. Except the S2000s are expensive.
>>
>>14473125
I know a couple of 80s jap sedans are RWD, like the toyota cressida

good luck finding any though that haven't been converted to drift missiles.
>>
>>14473144
Pretty much. I was going to say the AE86, but good luck on finding that too that is good condition, not overpriced, and close to you.
>>
>>14473189
>AE86
>not already going around mountain passes slideways off a cliff
basically every jap RWD from that era will be impossible to find that hasn't been already thrashed. The best bet at this point is importing and even then it'll cost a lot.
>>
>>14473205
I'd say either deal with FWD, American or Euro made, or a Miata or RX-8.
>>
Talking to a buddy of mine about selling me his 97 Monte Carlo that he no longer drives. It has 180,000 miles on it. There's a hole in the muffler but i know it isn't too expensive to fix. That's about all I know. He's asking for $1,800 USD. Should I tell him I'm not interested?

Just went for a kebab in my diesel ford fusion 2(eurofag version) and noticed what I think is blue smoke coming out of the exhaust.

There are no warning lights on the dash.
The only other problem I've had so far is that it was a little slow to start(3-5 secs of cranking)

What do?
>>
>>14475867
I've had idle issues from a dirty MAF. Nothing that severe, buy if it's really dirty, maybe something like that could happen. My car just sounded like it had an insane cam.
>>
>>14475890
Ok, thanks for the advice
>>
>>14475901
If that doesn't work then I would try injector cleaner or something. I don't think a spark issue would ever cause surging, so it's either reading something incorrectly or its getting too much/not enough fuel somehow.
>>
>>14475878
check oil level
check battery
check starter
>>
>>14475867
I'd say Clean/Check MAF and clean the throttle body as well. Couldn't hurt, just make sure you don't touch the MAF or you will ruin it. Also use MAF cleaner on it, nothing else, you will ruin it.

How many miles /km are on it?
>>
>>14475945
about 27k KM
>>
>>14475976
I'd say it probably wouldn't hurt to also put injector cleaner in the gas tank as well. Seafoam works pretty good, unless you can get BG, which is even better.
>>
>>14475992
I've bought some STP injector cleaner and i'm going to buy a new fuel-filter

Yeah it might be time for a new fuel filter anyway even if it's not the issue then. Hope it all works out.

Posted this in the Nissan general but I'm getting no replies, so might as well try here.

Any opinions on how this 88 Stanza would function as a daily driver? Owner is asking for $1900, says the car runs great but the running lights went out when he installed a new stereo. Is something like that difficult to fix or easy as reconnecting one wire? Any opinions on the price of it?
>>
>>14472166
I also go to UNLV and am now scared of running into these namefags.
>>
>>14476472
If he managed to fuck up the lights putting in an aftermarket stereo the wiring is most likely a mess, but if it runs good, it's a $1500 or so car. How are you with reading wiring diagrams and doing wiring work?
>>
>>14476494
This would be my first car so I wouldn't be any good at it, but I have a friend that offered to re-wire it and the owner also said he has a friend that could re-wire it if someone were to come out and buy it. I asked him for interior pics and the VIN so I can post it in the VIN check thread, definitely planning on knocking the price down to about what you said.

Guys i need some advice with this. Every single video about fork dissassembly involves forks with a nut on top instead of a plug like i have on mine. What the fuck do??
>>
>>14476522
It isn't too hard to learn by your self and a decent soldering iron isn't too expensive and is a great tool to have anyway. It's 50/50 if it's really fucked or slightly fucked though. Good on you for VIN checking.
>>
>>14476523
Looks like it's held in by a snap ring. All you should really have to do is pop it off with some snap-ring pliers.

If that's not it post picture of Forks because I can't see what the fuck is going on in this picture.

Yeah, it's one of those pumps used to inflate basketballs. Just shove the needle through the top hole. It's a rubber stopper that probably got stuck in after time. The air pressure should pop it right out.

Im pretty sure you wont reply after i say this, but its a yamaha aerox

>tfw when fixing something that obviously nobody cared about for 16 years

Also, is it a bad idea to put on a coolant reservoir cap from a car if it fits? Literally impossible to find a new one.
Could old, cracked hoses be the reason it sucks in air into the lc system?
>>
>>14476701
You should be able to get a reservoir cap from other shit and it should fit on. Yamaha is fairly consistent with parts for shit like that.

Alright, since we seem to have moved to a different thread....

I've got a '78 Ford F-150 with the Ranger trim sitting in a barn. It's been there for over 10 years. The engine and frame are the only things in good condition. They just need to be cleaned up. The engine was like new when it got put in the barn. Not sure if it was a '78 engine or something newer. All I know is that it is a V8 and has a carb. Everything else is fucked. Half the gauges don't work, the interior is fucked, tires are flat and rotted, any hoses will be rotten by now, and so on.

What I'm looking for is resources on how I could get this running again or at least something I can drop the engine into as we've been planning on scrapping the truck.

Here is the best picture I can get on my own. I'll see if I can get a buddy to help me remove the engine this weekend.

How do you detect understeer and overseer?

What is the indicator?

If I'm turning on a sharp right corner and midway through I need to adjust right , would that be considered understeer?

If someone describes their car as built, it's codeword for rice. If they say they built their car (as in past tense verb) it means you actually did work and modified your car

Refer to the chart, my nigga.
Also, I had a 2001 Neon as a first car. Getting one with the manual (mine was autotragic) would probably be fun. Responsive steering, reasonably good suspension setup, but not too rough. The car never gave me any issues while I had it and everyone I've talked to with a Neon has said the same thing. The interior is absolutely atrocious, though. It's not really uncomfortable, it's just so low quality. But you should be able to find a decent one for $2k or less and they can get 40+ empeegeez.

What's the point of 89 octane or "midgrade" gas?
>>
>>14483709
marketing.

some turbo/supercharged cars call for 91 instead of 93 so there is a reason for that at the very least since it's supposed to be cheaper. I don't think I've seen 89 for a boosted car.

I think 89 is actually blended at the pump from 87 and 93 anyways.
>>
>>14483733
Well, some states like commiefornia and arizona only have 91 octane

89 just seems pointless though

I know Arizona, California, an Nevada only have 91 octane. Don't know what other states do as well

Why do motorcycles use a chain instead of a belt?
>>
>>14483165
No, you can use electronic cleaner. They're not exactly the same but they do the same thing. Just be careful with it, don't drop it or be rough with it. The sensor itself is fragile. Make sure you spray the whole MAF, connector and all

I want to mount my spare tire in the roof basket on my XJ since it takes up so much space in the back. Don't want to spend around $70 to buy a premade spare tire holder, so I'm trying to come up with something on my own. Right now, I'm thinking maybe 2 big U bolts through the holes in the basket, then up through the lug holes on the wheel. I'll probably drill a hole through the threads on one of U bolts so I can put a lock through it to prevent it from being stolen. I don't really have the skills or resources to fab something up, so that kind of feels like one of my better options right now.

Would this be sturdy enough to hold a ~50lb wheel, or should I try coming up with something else? Can anyone think of something better?

Is this a glitch or a scam? The vehicle image history has numerous entries and this dealership sells cars in the 1-3 thousand dollar range, well below average. Is this a known error or something? Because I would seriously consider buying some of these cars.
