I was looking into getting a luxury SUV since my wife has been pushing me to get one for the family. I was looking into the Range Rover Evoque. Any thoughts or suggestions?

The Evoque is nice but as with all British autos, the electrics are awful.
My parents have had one for 2 months, 5 weeks of which has been at the dealer having the airbag system replaced, the hood latch sensor replaced, and an o2 sensor

The Evoque is a fashion SUV designed for women. Absolutely useless cargo capacity, absolutely useless visibility, absolutely useless handling compared to cars, don't even try to offroad it. If you must, at least get a Discovery Sport. Or a Ford Explorer in the first place. It looks like a Range Rover but it's cheaper.

Do you enjoy driving? Try to talk her into getting an AWD sedan, It can do anything your gonna do with that SUV, while being a lot more fun to drive.
If it has to be a luxury brand SUV, go with lexus. Before you ignorant ass calls it gook shit know that they can easily last 300k miles with mediocre maintenance and have the highest resale of values of pretty much any car brand. Rover absolutely fails in both those categories. Rover might be slightly more comfortable, Lexus isn't to far behind at all.

Dont listen to these bias wankers. The Evoque is a good car with fantastic resale. Drives well and the 9 speed is the smoothest auto ive ever driven. Theybe just released the 2.0L with even BETTER fuel economy than before. (which means youd get a bloody cheap 2.2L) Dont get me wrong there are other good choices but the evoque is a great car. Great seevice intervals too, onc e a year or 26,000 kms. Just make sure you buy diesel.

Land Cruiser 200. I love the "everyman" Toyota badge on such a stupendously overbuilt (and expensive) vehicle. The latest facelift makes it look a bit too flashy I suppose, but nowhere close to an Escalade or Infiniti QX80.

I bought my gf a Range Rover Sport (2016) last year. So far been a good car. Had a few minor things like a bad o2 sensor but the service has been good (sent a flat bed there and back even though it could drive).
I think Land Rover has the nicest looking luxury SUVs right now.
I didn't drive the Evoque but it sure looks cool. Be aware I've heard some people say the blind spots are bad in it. In the RR Sport the visibility is good though.

either a real range rover with a v8 or mec g55, m8. No need for supercharged or biturbo 5.5s. The mileage on those arent as horrendous as you think, you get a nice uncucked daily driver and they're pretty ill offroad.
