Who /luxury/ here?

I feel like if anyone posts a late model or semi-expensive car here the entire board goes full autism and tries to rain on your parade.

I'm looking for fellow luxury Bros who just enjoy the nicer things in cars. Discuss your recent purchases or future plans ITT.

Couldn't be happier with my car.

Luxurious, has pedigree, gets a lot of looks and nods, sounds great, reliable, handles great for a 2 ton limo, and the quality of the interior is just amazing. I feel fantastic driving this old thing around. Not hard at all to wrench on yourself either.

Test drove a Lincoln MKS and it had squeaky seats and the vents would make a rattle every time I went over a bump. I was shocked that the "new Lincoln" was so underwhelming : /

Speaking of Bentleys, if you really just care about being comfy and not the perception of your car, the 80s Bentleys/RRs are amazing, the ride is better than the new S calls, Quattroporte, or 7 series (haven't driven any other new luxury cars) hands down IMO, obviously they are reliability disasters but for what they go for it's not a stretch to just put aside an extra $15k to keep it going for 10 years.
>>
>>14465613
>>14465692
I own an S class and I find that hard to believe.

I do like the ride though. I just don't think it can beat a modern S class (7 series is okay, but it's BMW so there's some "meant to be driven" feeling to it)
>>
>>14465613
How many cars do you have?
>>
>>14465707
You may be surprised, I don't mean overall suspension quality including handling, just how smooth the ride is over normal roads at low speed. There's also an insane amount of sound deadening on those cars, probably 400lbs worth, the hood has huge pillowed things in it. One cool thing on the old 60s ones was they even had leather wraps with little belt straps around the leaf springs to keep any squeaking from being heard.

>>14465736
2, all the luxury cars I've driven are from work or friends, but I'm considering buying one at the end of this summer
>>

Why the fuck are new Tahoe's so expensive? Even 2013 Tahoe's are still sitting at $40k
>>
>>14465877
It's a hydraulic system that runs off a single central pump, I don't know exactly how it works as I haven't worked on one but I imagine it feels so different than other cars because it has gallons of mineral oil across all 4 corners for dampening rather than the small amount you can fit in a normal shock/strut. It doesn't handle well at all or stiffen up for acceleration, it only does one thing, rides like a magic carpet while just cruising around

CLS is an E-class with a body kit and a few more standard features. Tier wise it sits between the E and S class.
>>
>>14468100
>>14468362
Also it comes with the Air-ride suspension with selectable sport/comfort modes. With additional packages it parks itself. It's a damn nice car that can be picked up for pretty cheap compared to its MSRP. Fully loaded a 2013 cls550 cost nearly 85k, I just got one certified for 39k with an extended warranty. Absolutely love it. It's got massaging heated seats that also hug you around turns. It's ridiculous.

>>
>>14468777
Looks really good anon.

About the Mustang, everything felt like it was plastic or other cheap material. The only plus the car had was the engine, which was really good. The parts for the GT350 were too expensive and unreliable, visiting the Ford service every 1-2 months was too expensive for me.
The Aston it's expensive to fix and maintain as well, but the quality is far away from the GT's.
Are these C-classes or ?

Let me get this straight.

You don't consider the 5 series or the A6 to be luxury cars? And you consider the CTS to be better than the 5 series and the A6?

You should know these cars are the epitome of modern luxury. Their segment name is literally called the "executive luxury sport sedan segment"

Acura and Buick are considered to be premium brands. Cadillac, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, and Audi, are luxury brands.
>>
>>14468900
>Acura and Buick are considered to be premium brands. Cadillac, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, and Audi, are luxury brands.

This so much. Although I personally don't consider Lexus luxury.

BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Cadillac are all considered luxury.

Porsche, Lamborghini, Maserati (excluding the Ghibli) are boutique luxury.
>>
>>14464282

Tell more, good sir. What year? How much did you pay? I'd always be scared of the untraceable electrical gremlins.

Tell me something else -- does it feel "loosey goosey" in the interior? The one time I drove an XJ8 I though tthe whole interior was like held together with loose screws. I don't know if it was just that specimen that was crappy.

I have a 2001 Range Rover in my fleet and it's not as bad as people make them out to be. I wouldn't trust it to be my only car though.
>>
>>14468838
After a drift attempt the rear wheel opposite on the road broke off the car, don't know how is this even possible taking the good roads I'm driving my cars on.
From the service they said, that it was my fault and I should pay for it which I did and it costed me a bag of money.
Also some minor engine problems which I don't know a lot about because I got poor mechanical knowledge, but some of them I had to pay for. The american cars are just bad, believe me, it's nothing like the German or Britain automobile engineering.

My Aston on the other hand never had such problems. Everything I pay for is well made, on a good price and reliable enough. That's why I love the brand and why will always recommend it to other cars enthusiast.

Tell me about the S-class, it might get into my list for future purchases.
How does it feel on long road, is it reliable and would you recommend it for long trips with the senpai ?
>>
>>14465692

You really think $15K can keep it going for ten years? My impression is more like 1-2 years. Have you seen the parts prices on that shit? The story I keep hearing is if the high-mounted brake lamp fails, you have to replace the whole rear windshield, which is like a $10K job.
>>
>>14464282
I've seen you post your car here before. Didn't you say you were about to do some suspension work? How difficult was it?
>>
>>14467814

Thanks and warm regards for keeping your Jaguar stock.

Which state are you in? I'm trying to figure out your surroundings there.
>>
>>14468946
>The american cars are just bad, believe me, it's nothing like the German or Britain automobile engineering.

I'm hoping this isn't the case with my Escalade... Holy shit at the rear wheel breaking off lol. You should have told the mechanics your were making a hard right when someone cut you off.

S class is really comfy on long trips. Seat massages your lower back should you get uncomfortable. One thing is that (take this how you may) it wasn't meant to be an enjoyable driving experience. It is meant to be driven in. The steering is floaty (almost no feedback from the road and the power steering allows you to turn without effort) and the suspension makes all roads feel brand new.

I have had it for two years and the only complaint is that the tires are $600.00 each and they're only rated (no warranty mind you) for 20K miles.

I will tell you that I'm looking at getting a 2017 7 Series to replace it.
>>

>>
>>14468900
>A6
>epitome of anything but taxi services

Well memed, my friend ;)

And yes, I don't consider second gen CTS to be a luxury car. Nor do I consider the rebadged Passat to be luxury car. The only luxury car Audi has is A8L, although that thing is still worse than Phaeton.

If you're so daft that you consider a car "luxurious" just because the brand has one possibly luxury car in its line-up, we have nothing to talk about.
>>
>>14469006
My father's a mexican, my mother is from Australia.

>>14468987
I might visit the local Mercedes dealership to give the S-class a try, might as well try the E-class. Thanks for the good info anon, appreciate it.
>>
>>14469048
Audi is widely considered luxury here in the US so no point arguing that one.

The only reason, to me, Cadillac fell from grace was due to their shitty management and reliability (which has since been fixed) and they lost their status as a luxury car brand. Now they're completely rebuilding the brand and I'm now a huge fan.

>>14469054
I would hold off on the E class. They're completely redesigning it and it looks like a mini S class (one of the reasons I'm getting rid of my S). It even has the same instrument panels.

I don't care what the marketing tells people Audi is. The cars are Golfs or Passats with mascara. Most of them are about ask "luxury" as the new Skoda Superb.

Cadillac was obviously seriously subpar prior to 2005, but damn have they bounced back. A bit., but it's still amazing considering how much shit GM has to deal with from "old GM".

British Columbia, friendo

>>14468942
I can tell you with absolute certainty that it was just that car. Chances are the owner was indian and couldn't figure out how to put the interior back together correctly. My car is perfectly quiet and smooth as fuck. I've helped a few other anons here buy an XJ8, even though I prefer the XJ6. They both fell in love with the cars. It made me happy.

Mine is a 95 Vanden Plas which is the upscale trim. It cost me very little and is in nice condition. I work on it myself and it's easy as fuck.

The electrical gremlins are a meme. The old cars didn't use insulated wires so they would corrode. It wasn't so much gremlins as it was total failure of a part. Easily fixable if you rewire it. My car uses gold plated electronics and the only problems I've have stemmed from a bad battery. The heated seats work, sunroof works (until I stupidly broke it, but the motor still works), the retractable antenna works, the trip computer is fully operational. Even the heated front screen works, though it's a bit pointless to have.

>>14468975
I haven't received the parts yet. I don't anticipate it being too difficult, really. I'm going to spend all day doing it, and spend all night cruising. I'm just trying to make sure that, if I have to remove a part, I'm replacing every part that would require removal of said part. People on the Jaguar forums are ridiculously helpful.

I'm replacing:
Lower and upper ball joints
Tie rod ends
New shocks all around
New brake pads all around, and a fluid flush + bleed with a new booster
New trans filter, replacing what fluid drains out with synthetic to start the gradual switch (tfw 13litres of tranny fluid) and cleaning the magnets
Greasing half shaft u joints and checking entire drive train for play
Switch power steering fluid to synthetic
Alignment (only toe in is adjustable)
Oil change and brand new filter (mann motherfucker)
Carbon fibre intake for dat growl
Excited.

Aston Martin makes very nice cars that will get you laid. Their performance is alright, definitely paying for the quality and the exhaust note though.

>>
>>14469048
I think you should re-evaluate your demeanor and back yourself up with facts rather than "feelings."

Because there is an actual line of what is considered to be luxury and what isn't. It is not willy nilly like you somehow perceive it to be.
>>
>>14471440
im actually really impressed you were able to hit an 11.2 at only 122mph. thats a really good time for that trap, is whatever car that is awd?

Not Kamil, new owner

Kamil has a lp640 now
>>
>>14471548
Drag radials help with that, very minimal tire spin on that run. Many runs were slower with a much higher mph, due to spinning from all the torque.
>>

Just admit that leasing is the better financial choice. It's okay, I'm glad you can pay an extra 15% a month on average when compared to a lease payment. But that's a hell of a lot of liability to take on just so you can brag online about actually "owning" your car.

its not about being able to say you own your car, its about being able to actually own your car. take $200k and spend it leasing a new car every 3 years. where are you after that 20 years is up compared to someone who spent that $200k buying cars? you think you're 15% ahead of someone who actually has been building equity?

for example, look at my amazing infograph i just made.

im not expecting a reply because im fully expecting it to literally blow your mind.
>>
>>14472379
Impressive chart but that's some autism man

Yeah owning is better, but for someone who trades in their car every three years regardless, leasing is a financially superior option
>>
>>14472079
i own a 2000 chrysler 300m

can confirm pretty luxurious

full leather interior
heated power adjust seats with place save settings
autostick
sunroof
4 slot cd changer
cherry and silver trim

>>14471457
the g35 steering isn't too heavy either... it is in a sweetspot where you can turn with barely any effort yet still get proper feels from it

matter in fact i could say with confidence that it's better than the NC miata (need to drive the ND again to see if I can say the same about it because that car blew me away in terms of handling when I was still driving a mazda3)

I've only driven a few bimmers
>f30 328i
>e60 m5
>e92 m3
>i3
>2015 mini cooper s (not sure if that counts)
but I didn't pay too much attention to their steering but the m5 did feel very nimble for a 4100lb sedan and a good chunk of it came from the steering

the other 3 cars i just was either neutral on or I just didn't pay too much attention to in terms of their steering
