What the fuck lads, do you even bimmer?
Same theme as last thread. Post your nazi machines and what you recently fixed.
I recently got this oversized cat off my car so I can drive it again.

Any 2010/11 328i owners around? The good the bad and the ugly on them? Looking for a luxury sedan and I've found a couple in my area for a reasonable price around 40-60k miles

Is a e39 sport package good. The one that isn't trying to look like an m5.
Come back, winter-chan
>>14462017
See is this style ok. I don't want the m5 package because I'm not driving an m5 and don't want to be a poser.
So is this sport package good looking to everyone? I think it looks good

some more small bits
>>14462017
540i msport is like 75% of an m5 bruh, it's a properly good sport package upgrade, in light colors you can see the T bar in the grille so you know it isn't an m5
i actually prefer the msport bumper over the m5 bumper to be quite honest family
>>14462126
But it isn't. I can't allow myself to be an m package poser. I will get the e39 sport package and that's it.
It feels good that I'm going to be caring for a non m package BMW. BMW in its truest form.
>>14462156
I'd like to have an M-package because it looks better. How does that make me a poser?
Theres a really clean '93 318i for sale near me, 85k mi, the car has really been cared for (second owner) for like ~$3600. Should i go for it?
Where should I order new pads/rotors from? Also I kinda want steel lines, but mostly because I have no idea the age of the rubber lines on here.
FCP euro has a $375 kit with steel lines, but I also need to buy tires for my other car soon
>>14462190
Keep in mind that 115hp will not allow you to rip hektik doriftos unless you try really hard and git gud. If you want a BMW, it's definitely worth even just inspecting the car you're interested in. Plus, well-maintained models will probably skyrocket in prices in a few years when 90% of E36s will have been beat to death or crashed by inexperienced drivers trying to go full Dagumi. So other than a good car, it might also turn out to be a good investment. To be honest $3600 sounds like a lot but I don't know the standards in your country.
Though, 85k miles sounds kinda retarded for a 23 year old car. I had a '93 Twingo that had 211k kilometers on the clock and we didn't even drive it that much. Good luck, anon
E46 325i owner. did the license plate relocation bracket, e90 rearview mirror swap, DEPO clear lights, stoptech brakes&rotors, and im just about to swap in this bad boy. hint: its a differential from a z4

Anybody familiar enough with BMWs to recognize an M5 by its front bumper is also going to be able to recognize an M-package 540i.
>>14462616
Making your car look better is fine but when you make it look better by making it look like the M version that's poser and frowned upon with any other kind of car.
But for some reason it's ok with BMW.
It's like putting type r bumpers and things on a regular civic. Not cool. Not fooling anybody.
Here's a 540 without the m5s exterior rip offs. Much better. Like it was supposed to be.
Non poser.

Hello did any BMW cars come with diesels or were they too lame not to.
>>14463448
Are you serious? They did
>>14463470
I just did a search and only found 335d 3 series from 5 years ago. So what is up with that.
Or should I take my money elsewhere and buy a diesel Mercedes
>>14463470

Where is the diesel ones.
I don't think BMW made them until recently.
>>14463533
just checked, and E30s, E34s, E36s, E39s, and E46s all had diesel models. Not sure about the rest but they likely do as well
>>14463574
Prove it because I'm ready to walk to Mercedes side.
I search and no BMW here have diesel but the x5. I am in Canada a fix this. Or you lose a customer

Here, I made it easier for you
Turns out my z3 had 3 of these fuckers holding the metal power steering cooling line at the front.
all three failed, cooling line dropped and scraped all over the place while pulling out of the garage, thankfully.
ziptied until parts arrive, why do these fucking things even exist? Why not a single fucking bolt with rubber washers? That way when the washers fail, the fucking cooling line wont be destroyed when it drops.

>>14463668

>>14463817
>Too bad for you guys
I don't think anyone really cares that you're buying a different brand of car.
>>14462868
That's pretty stupid desu fampai. So I can make my car look like whatever the fuck I want, BUT if it's going to look like an M it automatically makes me a poser? It might just be me but I want my car to look good for my enjoyment, not to impress random strangers. I don't think normies can even tell the difference between a sporty trim and a regular trim.
>>14463932
This is a sad way to think. Just buy a m5 instead of being a poser.
I bet you put m5 badges on your BMW.
It's like taking a r32 bumper package and putting it on a regular gti. That's a huge no no.
>>14463960
I agree that badges are retarded. But I don't consider putting different bumpers and sideskirts sad.
>>14463960
I saw a guy who worked at mcdonals who put m badges on his base model z4.
>My uncle put them on.
>>14463584
what a dumbass, BMW has been producing some good diesel engines for many years, my mate has a 2001 330d e46 touring tuned to about 350hp, tough engines.
>>14463960
but BMW makes M Sport bumpers available on base trim cars from factory.
>>14464319
And that is stupid. Can't you get my point? I've said why that is stupid over and over.
You gasoline drivers are stupid. I've always wondered about you guys but I guess I now know us diesel drivers are smarter.
>>14464534
But not smart enough to even research which models in canada come with your polluting engine?
Go buy a merc cock sucker.
>>14463826
have you actually driven one? the springs and shocks are pretty close to an m5, as well as the front and rear rollbars.
it does lack the s62 and the m5 steering box though
>>14464690
You mean it lacks 90% of what makes an M5 an M5? Nobody actually thinks a 540i sport is on the same level as the M. Thats just crazy. And yes, I've driven both.
>>14464750
m5 > 540i Msport > 540i sport
the msport is it's own thing above the regular sport package
>>14464777
I'm well aware what it is, it is not 75% of an M5. Its not even 10% of an M5. Its the nicest 540 you can get but an M is a whole different car, pedigree, equipment, and performance wise. We also only got them in the states for one year.
>>14464602
Well I don't fuckin know. I search diesel BMW from 1900-2016 and only recent bmws from 2010+ have diesels.
I'd love to have a diesel e46 and make peniston oil decals but there are none it seems. What the he'll happened
>>14464534
This can't be real
well this thread went to bad places
>>14464534
That isn't stupid because it makes the car slightly aerodynamically improved and more pleasant to the eye. BMW knows what they are doing though because there is much more than bumpers that distincts actual M cars from M packaged cars. P.S I drive a diesel Mercedes and my previous car was a diesel Audi.
My Eisenmann Race arrives Wednesday...
>209lbs of used transmission
oh god what have i gotten myself into
>>14464319
Kinda but kinda not, BMW M-Technic =/= M-Sport though the difference is subtle.
E46 M3 the center piece is bulkier than M-Technic 2.
E39 M-Sport is nearly identical to the M5 except the bumper grill has a slat across it.
That said another give away is, atleast on the E46, is the window trim;
The 328i/330i had chrome window trim, but only the ZHP and M3 had gloss black 'Shadowline' window trim.

How much of a fuccboi would buying a 2002 make me?

i dropped her off yesterday for the 1200$ rod bearing service. i probably dont even need it. but i wont be calm until its done. cant handly knowing my car could just grenade at any moment no matter what i do if theres a fix out there that will keep that from happening.
>>14470154
if i remember correctly you get a pretty early warning of rod bearing failure by doing an oil analysis, they can tell if there's rod bearing microparticles in the oil
>>14470198
yeah thats true, but i drive like 3k miles every two weeks, so i wouldn't be able to catch it in time. there were multiple forum members who posted that they checked each oil change for analysis and were fine, but since the interval for changes is so far apart in the e92 its not uncommon for it to spring up and blow up before you get another oil change so i just decided to go for it.
>>14470249
oh god
don't you dare go by the bmw recommended oil change interval, that's like 12k miles, fuck that shit
go 7k or 8 months at most between changes
>>14470270
12k is fine in newer models though..? But they recommend every 7k miles as it is.
>>14470283
>>14470270
Newer engines as a whole, I should specify.
>>14470270
yeah i learned that last week haha. im planning on doing my changes every 4k now, but i wont be able to rest easy until i fix that rod bearing so whatever, fuck it.
>>14470283
considering how easy it is and how, honestly, you can't change your oil too often, why not?
i certainly don't trust anything longer than 7k
>>14463960
Is this guy a poser because he put M-package bumpers on his Compact even though M3 was not available as a Compact?
>>14470594
No. Once again you nerds have no reading comprehension.
>>14464319
Factory rice is still rice.
>>14470930
So just because styles found in racing may resemble stock styles means the latter are designed to look like racecars?
That is beyond stupid way of thinking, it is like saying cars come in manual only because racecars use manual.
>>14471078
You don't get it. Look for the nearest grade 3 classroom and go to it and learn. You need extra learning.
Ps here's a car better than any BMW excluding M5s
>>14471089
i really don't understand how someone can have an opinion this wrong
why did nobody tell me getting the exhaust off a 540i would be such a massive fucking pain in the ass.
not even talking about the header bolts, those came off super easy with my impact driver, i just mean balancing the thing on my floor jack and trying (and failing) to smoothly bring it to the floor without crushing my ass
>>14461913
I have a 2011 328i xDrive 6MT, pic related. I haven't had it for long enough to see any problems, but the N52 is known to be very reliable. There are some water pump failures at like 100k miles, and gaskets leak like literally every other BMW/MINI product.
It's a nice drive, steering feel is really good, transmission is great, cabin is solid and quiet. No squeaks or rattles. Non-sport still rides a bit rough with runflats, gonna switch to high perf summers in the spring time.
>>14472445
Oh, and I installed the ZHP shift knob today, feels pretty good. Can't wait to put ///M badges on the trunk now.
>>14461899
anyone else here have limp mode issues with the 3.0 twin turbos from the 335i/135i? I would love my car more than anything if it wasn't for that bullshit

Pay to play nigga, everyone has HPFP/Tarbo issues and some of them will give you dat limp mode
>>14472499
>limp mode
You knew this was coming, but I'm gonna say it anyway.
>buying a BMW in automatic
>>14461913
I've got a 328 xdrive wagon with the manuel. It's not a fast car, but in every other way has been exemplary. It drives really well, looks sharp, and has a nice interior.
The only downsides is that the 335 is a lot faster and the rear leg room is pretty limited if you have tall people in the front.
I would recommend the coupe because it is the same interior space, but looks A LOT better.
>>14472512
except it's a six speed faggot
>>14472505
it came with the sport package and I really thought it wouldn't be an issue unless I was tracking it, which I haven't
>>14472388

>>14472540
Get a sedan anon.
>>14472541
>dat interior color
love that shit, i don't really like my black leatherette. Will replace with coral red if I can find it.
>>14472550
The accessories on that motor are just garbage. They fucked up. The N55 seems to be more reliable in general, but it could just be because they're all newer. I really liked the few test drives I had (both n54 and n55.) but I felt that the 328i felt quick enough when keeping the revs high, and I didn't want to gamble on reliability more than necessary.
>>14472541
Gotcha. I thought you were talking about the automatic transmission limp mode where it disables gears.
>>14472473
why do you want an M badge tho
>>14471089
That isn't a better car and sport packages is not rice.
>>14472572
yes the n52 is an extremely solid motor, but it has basically zero aftermarket because it already has pretty high compression from factory
there was recently developed a supercharger setup for it for like $5000 but it only gives you 80hp, not great
>>14472573
naw, it's something to do with inherent heat in caused by the boost or some shit. I can't remember the details, but basically the engine thinks it's overheating if you give it the beans for more than 10 seconds. at least that's how it is on mine
>>14472594
I've been looking at the ESS supercharger kit. 80hp would put the car at around 300 at the wheels which would be pretty nice.
If you did the basic power mods (3 stage intake, headers, exhaust) you're probably at 3-4K anyway, Might as well put that into real power.
>>14472591
>why do you want an M badge tho
That was just a joke, some people get M badges when they install a few M Performance parts and t's cringey as fuck.
>>14472594
True, but you can get pretty nice results with AA headers and tune without spending much. I think it gets you to around 230WHP which is a nice bump from 230BHP.

>>14474778

chrome trim absolutely doesn't suit a bmw, sport package or no
>>14474952
I don't like how the black ones look without the chrome window trim. Kidneys universally look better black though.
>>14474996
Versus this. Completely blacked out has a way of making everything look super generic.
I didn't mind the chrome, it's just it was faded horribly and a new set is around 1k. The gloss black looks better than matte IMO, matte is on all economy cars and only expensive cars seem to have gloss.
