This. Even when I drove automatic I used it
>>
A lot of brake dust builds up on my back shoes, so whenever I use the brake pedal, it squeaks.
To prevent this, when traveling at high speeds, I gently apply my handbrake to get all the dust and squeaky shit out of there so I don't squeak when in parking lots.
>>
I never understood why Americans don't use it. Do you just leave your car in first all the time?

Last used ~15 mins ago parking on an incline at work.

on flat ground? no park brake
on inclines? yes, park brake
sometimes just chuck it in neutral and leave it

but the more important question is why the fuck is the parking brake where the clutch should be? Id should be a handbrake between seats or next to the drivers seat or at the very least under the dash as a handbrake, no fucking right there

Every single time, like you should, you tard.

And every time, after shutting down my engine, I shift into gear as an added security measure.

Being lazy on small, repetitive tasks like this says a lot about your personality and lack of drive. You will never be a better person. And no, its not about the parking brake. Its the mentality that tells you its ok to do "just this one more time".
>>
If im not mistaken, putting it on park hurts your gear box on automatics. Putting it on park should be the last of your steps

correct way as it goes: Foot on break> Hand break > neutral > lift foot of break > parking
>>

Fuck women. Driving is not hard, yet the always manage to fuck it up. I honestly should've know better than to lend it to her.
I never let her drive when I'm in the car, she scares the shit out of me.

Got a good payout and brought another bike so I never have to loan my car out to any one again though.

I actually already paid a fine for her already. I'm a far worse driver when it comes to commuting everyday, but I try really hard not to create situations where accidents can happen. Just yesterday she almost hit a g-wagon because he stopped and she was tailgating him. The brakes took longer to brake because of the heavy snow and she was baffled at that fact. Last week she also topped off the fuel tank and she tells me it feels like the car isn't pulling so well.
>>
>>14430541
To be fair, the parking pawl is a lot beefier than the parking brake. I still put on the parking brake whenever I park though.

Why wouldnt you use it? What autism are you inflicted with?
>>
>>14430625
dipshit, the parking brake is there to prevent damage on the prawl.

>Most vehicle manufacturers and auto mechanics do not recommend using the transmission's parking pawl as the sole means of securing a parked vehicle, instead recommending it should only be engaged after first applying the vehicle's parking brake. Constant use of only the parking pawl, especially when parking on a steep incline, means that driveline components, and transmission internals, are kept constantly under stress, and can cause wear and eventual failure of the parking pawl or transmission linkage. The pawl might also fail or break if the vehicle is pushed with sufficient force, if the parking brake is not firmly engaged. Replacement can be an expensive operation since it generally requires removing the transmission from the car.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parking_pawl

What do you fucking think the park brake is installed for? Manufacturer just wanted to add some dead weight and extra cost?
>>
>>14431991
The parking brake literally exists because the pawl isn't very strong.
>>
>>14430730
A lot of trucks and SUVs have it there. I guess the maker like it better than the pull from the dash style.

Nah there is really no reason to use it on an automatic unless you are on a super steep hill tho. Doesn't hurt however.

That said you may be kind of a dick to the next normie who drives it as god knows they won't know how to take the parking brake off, let alone what the beeping and shitty acceleration mean.

Use it in your own car don't use it in a company vehicle unless you are parking somewhere you turn the tires toward the curb.

I'd argue that an automatic is better for offroading. Sure a manual has a more robust construction, but modern automatics for 4x4 arent made of paper clips and rubber bands either.

Why do Americans laugh at people for the stupidest shit?

I once visited some friends who were cooking in a non-stick pan with silverware and after I told them the steel is going to fuck with their finish the whole fucking kitchen erupted in a roar of laughter.

A few months later they were complaining about how their expensive pot and pan set was flaking off into their food and for some reason they deny that I ever told them anything.

nothing pains me more than watching someone park on an incline and letting the car rock back onto the transmission after they release the brake. this causes premature wear in the transmission.

The purpose of heel-toe shifting is so that you can rev match your downshifts while you brake. The clutch should be wearing less compared to a "normal" shift unless you're royally fucking up.

Americans that drive manual do use it. Soccer moms and teenage girls who drive automatics don't use it because America labels it as an emergency brake and automatics have a gear called "Park". They don't know any better.
