What makes Mazda econoboxes more "fun" than the others exactly?
>>
>>14429868
Better tuned suspension for playing in the twisties.
>>
nothing because they're not fun. Slow, gay looking shit boxes that your mum would buy
>>
>>14429885

Honda poster revealing himself early in the Mazda thread again, I see
>>
>>14429868
Literally nothing unless it is the speed variant. Even then, it is still not up to par with its competition like subaru.
I am assuming you are talking about the mazda 3
>>
>>14429919
Not in particular.

One thing I commonly here about every Mazda is that they're more "fun to drive" than the competition. The 3 is more fun than a Civic/Focus/Corolla, the 6 is more fun than a Accord/Fusion/Camry, the CX-3 is more fun whatever crossover garbage is being sold these days, etc.
>>
>>14429868
responsive engine and steering
nice shift quality
nice brake feel
feels breddy light and nimble
good driving position
engine doesn't fall on it's arse if you rev it out
>>
>>14429918
what are you talking about, im not corey
>>
>>14429934
if fun is being left behind in a free way then good for you
>>
>>14429868
Nothing. I'd rather have a Taurus than a fucking Mazda.
>>
>>14429934

It just has really tight steering that reacts well. So it makes it feel fun cause it literally moves to every motion of your hand.

Thats it, it really isnt all that fun. If they actually had balls to put a v6 in the Mazda6 or a turbo in the 3 then it would be amazingly fun

They are vastly overrated.
>>
>>14429973
they're praised because they're good to drive despite being base models
that's something that hasn't happened since the mk1 focus
>>
>>14429973
>tight steering

Just curious as to what this means. Because when I was looking for a new vehicle to buy, I tested one car with electric steering (09 VW Rabbit). It was weightless and absolutely awful, couldn't feel a thing. I like steering wheels that need a hint of effort to move.
>>
>>14429986

Well i mean year there base models, they should have a higher trim to them.

mazda is just not trying.
>>
>>14429990

The wheels respond instantly to your turns. You move the wheel and the wheels move.

Alot of cars have a dead zone and you have to really start turning them to get the wheels moving.
>>
>ITT people who have never driven a Mazda
I own three.
All fun as fug to drive vs any other brand.
>>
>>14429990
Mazda steering is light too. It's the one aspect that's poorly rated.
It weights up with load to mimic manual steering and that makes it quite unnatural feeling.
Responds well and is precise but it just feels...weird.
>>
>>14429868
The new ones are pretty bad. I've been driving a ton of new cars while shopping for one. The mazdas interior is absolute shit. It handles OKAY but is nowhere near the best or most fun cars out there right now.
>>
>>14429868
There's all sorts of videos of Dave Coleman, the engineer at mazda that explains shit but here is the summary:

The handling and driving feel he modeled after his track miata with a manual rack. The angle of caster for the new mazdas are also I think about 18-26 degrees which is the same on the RX8 and Miata, which no current FWD econobox on the market has.
>>
>>14430022
Oops, I'm way off. It's 6 degrees of caster according to http://www.motortrend.com/cars/mazda/mazda3/2014/
>>
Well, their owners have to somehow diminish their buyers regret, so they try to rope in other people to overpay for mediocre cars too.
>>
>>14429868
All of the car magazines said it so it has to be true.
>>
>>14430085
well at least they drove the cars first
>>
How heavy are base model 3's compared to the competition? New Miata is super light for 2016, wondering if they applied that tech elsewhere.
>>
>>14429868
Stiffer springs. That makes everything better.
>>
>>14430119
Well anon, google says -
>>
>>14430119

Mazda3 weighs 2,865 to 3,028 lbs

Kia forte weighs 2,804 to 2,844 lbs
civic weighs 2,742 to 2,923 lbs
Corolla weighs 2,800 to 2,875 lbs
Sentra weighs 2,848 to 2,943 lbs
Dart weighs 3,081 to 3,215 lbs

So actually mazda3 is heavier then most its competition
>>
>>14430119
Mazda has the most HP.
Weights are similar but fully optioned the Mazda 3 weighs most.
>>
>>14430144

Actually the Forte and Civic has the most with its 201hp 1.6t and the civics 205 hp 2.4l
>>
>>14430140
So best chassis.
Best feel
Best style
Most HP
Only 164 lbs heavier FULLY optioned

Mazda is based as fuck
>>
>>14430157
Google isnt showing me those numbers.
Maybe I'm doing it wrong. I dunno
>>
>>14430161

>best feel
Subjective but it is nice
>Best style
Subjective
>most Hp
It doesnt
>only 164Lb fully options
Forte has more options.
>>
>>14430140
I have no idea about the other vehicles, but the mazda3 at the higher trims come with 18" wheels that are probably heavy as fuck. Their optional tech package with the radar cruise control and such must also add another 100lbs or so.
>>
>>14430140
That's becuase Mazda uses 100% PURE STEEL in it's cars not that plastic shit everyone else does.
Trust Mazda to build a DURABLE and SAFE chassis with added weight for better STABILITY AND STIFFNESS.
>>
>steering feels
>suspension feels
>shifting feels
t. Mazda6 shill
>>
>>14430167
Forte5s and Koups come standard with the 2.0L and, in SX trim, are fitted with this 201-horsepower, 195 lb-ft 1.6L turbo.

Next to the definition of “smooth and zingy” is a picture of the Civic Si—well, in our dictionary, anyway. Available as a sedan or a coupe, each looks zestier than its non-Si counterparts, along with a high-revving, 205-hp four-cylinder engine that makes 174 lb-ft of torque.
>>
>>14430171
>wanting korean options
they'll just slow you down for no reason after a few years
>>
>>14430199

The heated and cooled seats in my Optima SX still work perfectly after 6 years, same with the heated mirrors, the heated steering wheel, the back up cam, and the folding mirrors.

Everything still works perfect.
>>
>>14430194
>implying all those aren't real things
enjoy the bus
>>
>>14430185
oh so thats why they rust so easily, that explains why. Fuck off shill
>>
Man, honda must have made some really shitty cars to have bred such bitter cucks.

Every single model in their line regularly out classes every competing model in suspension, responsiveness, transmission, and steering feel.

And that's been the story since the 2000's. And before that, the 323s, proteges, all that were breddy fucking good in those areas too.

Let's be honest here. 90% of people who are in the market for regular consumer cars don't care about "fun." In fact they'll prefer something less "fun" because it's less work to drive and they view their car as only an appliance. And that's perfectly fine because there are so many other companies and cars to choose from (hondacuck, nissanfuck, amerifat) but for those who have souls and actually appreciate the joys of driving, there's mazda.

I wish Mazda let you get a decent blue color on a car other than the CX-3. I'm just hoping they make it a MS3 exclusive color or something.

Riiight.

Mazda shills out in full force tonight

Mazda's quality does not compare to honda's or toyota's. It seems half the mazdas I see on CL have rebuilt titles

so joy of driving is when you get overtaken on a free way. Gotcha, i would def buy mazda if I became a mom on my next life

oh how traumatic someone in more of a hurry overtook you in a straight line
what a devastating occurrence.

hey kid, you probably dont know this because you dont have a license yet, and your experience is limited to the 150hp smog era piece of shit truck struggling to pull you and your lard ass family around (so you think its always a race).. but the highway isnt a drag strip. if someone overtakes you they overtake you? i dont see the big deal

the lowest top speed in any car in mazdas current line up is 118 mph. nobody is going to be cutting you off at that speed.

well maybe the Clio wouldn't be so good for your kind of roads, the Mégane would fit a bit better. It has very short gear ratios and cruising at 70 mph for long distances can be very annoying. These things are made to be driven on narrow mountain roads.

>>14429990

Good steering stiffens as cornering force increases, then goes slack once you've exceeded the front tires' grip. It should also let some vibration in to let you know what the tires are driving over.

It isn't necessarily tied to effort. Honda likes to use firm steering as a substitute for communicative steering, something they've always struggled with. You don't get any change in steering effort based on remaining grip.
>>
>>14430013
Manual steering IS natural steering. You're just used to very unnatural steering.
