I was born in 86. Growing up yea it was a gay car never on my radar. As I got older and learned to drive a manual and got into cars I had a speed3 as my first "enthusiast" car. Then I went to my first track day. Started to realize the popularity of them. Learned about spec miata. Friend with a LS 10AE let me borrow his NB. Then I got it and had to have an NA. I sold my speed3 and bought one. I no longer have one but it developed me into the Sportscar and avid racing fan I am today. It's a special car for me and I hope to own one again some day.

The miata community is one of the only ones I know that barely contains any riced shit. Wheels above 15", shitty CAI's and any mods without dyno proof to back up are frowned upon. Most people who drive a stock one are well aware they have no chance against pretty much any car, even minivans. For everything else there is turbo, which has a huge and very supportive community with a lot of knowledge to push any miata well above 200whp.

I accept that a Miata makes me look gay. However, I also accept that I am a poor man, and that in the poor man's budget it's simply the most fun and best car you can get. Looking like a fag is infinitely more acceptable downside than dealing with the cons of everything else in my price range like boring FWD econoboxes, cantturn murrikan shitheaps, or something like a BMW with stupid upkeep costs.
