As of right now it's a 40x40 pole barn. Plans are to pour concrete foundation and floor, rebuild the lean-to, two 16' insulated overheads on the front, all new metal to match my house. It will take a couple years but I'll get there.
>>
>>14320667
I like OPs garage very much. But theres one thing missing: Tons of old sheet metal signs (Buy NKG plugs HERE! - MOBIL Oil) and the occasional pinup. No garage is complete without signs and posters

Big houses with big garages are around 4-6x the price when comparing the UK and usa market.

Simply, unless I move to some northern shithole (like Crewe), or emigrate to America, I doubt ill have a home workshop.

Most things posted in this kind of thread are just clean garages to house super cars. Which is fine, but really not what /o/ wants or needs.

I keep things in general clean.
But having a 2 car garage with over half taken up by cabinets and tables is a shit work environment.
A garage will get dirty.
A garage will get irreversibly dirty.
That's just a fact.

>>
>>14326558
>slobs that think staying clean takes time
Find a good place to put things.
Put things back where you got them.
Pick up parts and wipe down a surface after a task.
Holy fuck things are clean, and you don't have a bunch of clutter slowing your slovenly ass down for the next task.
Granted, a lot of these garages are more for storage than work, but I hate people who think that if you aren't sitting in your own shit surrounded by unfinished surfaces, you aren't doing real work.

Do you not see the engine block sitting on the floor in that picture? He obviously works on his own car you pretentious fag. Its one of the nicer RSR track cars out there, self built. This dude is at willow springs like every month for years.

It's fully functional, unlike most of us who have to sacrifice by still being able to fit 2 cars in our garage.

Even my 3 car garage is designed to still hold 3 cars, unfortunately, but that's what my family needs. Luckily we have sheds in the back to hold all the other non car related bullshit.
>>
>>14326232
Lol I'm not idiot my job is mechanic

Sure thing you can avoid accidentally dripping some brake fluid or oil on your precious floor. But just one carelessness would totally ruin this 10k+ floor
Then who the fuck takes this risk?

Ok you do brakes you even do engine swap. But hey, in reality do have any idea how dirty the engine bay and under it is?

Alright let's say you keep it super clean and wash at outside (magically cleaned some tough area under the car somehow)
You wrench down those bolts and magically keep all the fluid/dust in control
But have you even used a wire brush? There is NO WAY to avoid make the room dusty. Why the hell have those painted nice walls and cabinets? There is NO WAY you keep it clean if you actually do jobs in there.

And omg don't even bring on other enthusiast modify jobs
Welding? Any sort of Hammering? Chemical spray??? Oil based products??? In this nice room?
Fucking LEL
>>
>>14326898
>>14326974
read my second post

>see engine block
>omg!!!! Mechanic!!! Car enthusiast!!! Shits that I don't know about!!!
Kill yourself
You're no different than some teenage girls who sees a wrench lying on the bench then thinks the guy is a pro

I've done engine job monthly in my job (not related but whatever)
Ok this guy don't deal with those dirty shitty family engines like we actual mechanics do
But what you want to do with that engine????

You use any cleaning procedure I guarantee you that the room is ruined
NO FUCKING WAY to avoid dirtying that nice room if you do any engine job
plus that bench and vise have no evidence of being used

This thread should contribute to real men's garage that actually function. Not some pretentious fags making his garage like those in the posters and advertisement.
And yes you definitely can/should keep garage clean. But this level of decor and painting only make it nice for fag fucking in there
>>
>>14320667
>>14326232

I like this shop a lot because it tows the line between fully functional and over done up or decorated. A lot of times I see dram garages that are so done up with fancy decor that they can't be much more than a place to store the car. You couldn't do an oil change there much less any real fab work. This looks like a good balance. I'd ditch the tile floor, but otherwise it looks nice. I'm just used to a dirt cheap pole building with a basic poured concrete floor and metal siding. The benches, storage, tool boxes, and everything are all mismatched because I buy them on the cheap when I can. There's no uniformity or central theme.

Things I have:
Plenty of floor/shop space
Plasma cutter
Basic wire feed and stick welders
Most all of the hand and power tools I could ever want
Benches with vices and mounted grinders, wire wheels, polish wheels
Drill press
Old school lathe
Band saw
Chop saw
Parts washer
Engine hoists
Tire machine

Things I really could use:
Tire/wheel bubble balancer
Bridgeport
TIG welder
A car lift (2 would be nice drive on and post style)
Metal working tools like a bend/roll/shear, tubing bender, stretcher, English wheel

Things I would like but probably won't ever have:
Engine and/or chassis dyno
Small CNC machine
