Which one should I get? Budget is about 15k and I need 4 doors. These are the two cars I've narrowed it down to.

SHO Pros:
>better gas mileage
>better interior
>transmission is less of a slush box
>can get a lower mileage one for less

SHO Cons:
>uglier exterior
>worse sounding engine

G8 GT Pros:
>dat glorious v8 rumble
>better exterior styling
>rwd

G8 GT Cons:
>gas mileage
>uglier interior

What state, any snow?
>>
>>14314429
va. so currently quite a bit lol but typically its not that bad.
awd is always nice to have though just in case
>>
>>14314317
Keep in mind that I love the SHO, but the rear seat leg room is fucking atrocious.
>>
>>14314446
You could get by with the G8 with snow tires, the SHO can make noticeable gains with a few simple mods.
>>
too many Taurus police interceptors

G8 wins by default

Man g8 gas mileage Is crazy bad.

is it really that bad?
i havent sat in it yet but it doesnt look that much worse than the g8 gt from pics

>Gains: +125wtq/+70whp @3000rpm and +75wtq/+60whp @4000rpm

One of the joys of factory turbo motors is that they are tuned conservatively as fuck.
>>
If you can find a $15k SHO I'd definitely do it. Its lightyears newer/more advanced than the G8.

To be fair though a $15k Dodge would be a SRT-8 Charger which would be a pretty badass car, even the 1st Gens.
>>
>>14314537
I can't speak for the G8. But I do know that the Taurus and MKSs I've sat in here horrible for anyone who is a large manlet or greater. plenty of headroom and width, but no place to put your feet. and I'm only 5'10", confirm for manlet.

I used to like them more until I experienced the FORTY-FIVE-HUNDRED POUNDS OF AMERICA that it weighs.

Honestly I'm more excited about the new Fusion Sport, with it's 2.7L Ecobooooooost and AWD and not being over 2 tons.

In any case it's a good car. But if you wanted it to be more... executive? It's not really the greatest. It will work great for chillins and coworkers to lunch though.

And of course the AWD is extra bonus to snow/winter, while it IS FWD ultimately.
>>
>>14314549
pretty much what ive read
seems like you can get tos lightly over 400hp with just those

>>14314588

its not working

>>14314598
>If you can find a $15k SHO I'd definitely do it. Its lightyears newer/more advanced than the G8.
would it really tho? the two i were looking at specifically were a '10 sho and an '09 g8 gt. thats only one year newer.

>>14314607
i am also 5'10" king of manlets
i might need to sit in one and see if its a dealbreaker
>>
>>14314317
>ignoring the ctsv

well, thats the obvious reply. i had a great one with blower and all. then rode in my friends 2001 5-series that he bought for 6k and it was the greatest car ive ever rode in.
>>
>>14314802
jk everyone i forgot about the tbss
those faggot sedans can gtfo of my thread now
>>
>>14314607
>No room
You must be 400 lbs or something because my limited is spacious as fuck and I'm 6'0 250. The only car that had more room was my Crown Victoria, which is the king of comfy from now until forever.

Get the SHO OP, you won't regret it.
>>
>>14314861
>that literal wall of china between the two front seats
what were they thinking my balls hurt just looking at that
>>
>>14314317
Me mum has a g8 v6
The interior is really shitty and cheap but it is still better that an ugly tourus.
>>
>>14314868
So? It's still plenty roomy. And again, I'm not exactly a manlet.
>>
>>14314802
Well, keep in mind that I was thinking of it from a Crown Vic replacement perspective. Part of the biggest malfunction is that the rear floor is in such a way that you can't stick your toes under the front passenger's seat... at least in the MKS you couldn't. Though I can't see why it'd be different.

Try it out but honestly for a family it'll be more than fine.
>>
>>14314855
I owned a tb ss. Can confirm it's better than a g8 or a sho.
>>
>>14314883
Depends on the year. On the 13 and newer models there is more foot room, plus the seats in the rear are a bit deeper.
>>
>>14314317

SHO nigga

Drove one when I worked for a dealership and god damn it was comfy. Like old Cadillac tier comfy ride/interior, and it was quick enough.

If you're going 4 doors most likely you'll want comfort and shit.
>>
>>14314861
maybe it is an MKS/Taurus difference. I distinctly remember both times not being able to wiggle my feet front to back because the footwell was tiny.

OP disregard me and buy a green SHO
>>
>>14314869
i like lots of cockpit space tho
i really just need to go sit in one

>>14314883
>Part of the biggest malfunction is that the rear floor is in such a way that you can't stick your toes under the front passenger's seat.
wut
i cant even picture how this would be possible

>>
>>14314978
You still have plenty of room up front in the older Tauri, I was saying that newer ones gave the rear passengers a bit of extra room. But yeah, they don't hold resale value well, at least not going from new to used. Once they're "used" the value is pretty stable. But I got my 14 Limited for $18500. And even though it isn't a SHO it still has plenty of power to it.
>>
>>14314978

>kek goddammit /o/ this is the literal opposite of all other opinions ITT

That's because I've drove both, and I'd choose the Taurus.

G8 does look good, and has a 'sporty' ride but the Taurus is pretty comfy

>>14315000

SHO is definitely more comfortable in my experience.

yup. when the SHO was first released it's the only taurus model that was available in green

For 2016 they dropped the emerald and gave it Guard, which is also amazing. I like the emerald better on the SHO though.

>>
>>14315032
yeah i was just looking at a '10 sho with less than 50k for 17.5k. pretty ridiculous considering what they retailed for only 6 years ago.

>>14315052
i dont doubt the sho has a comfier ride quality but what about interior/cockpit comfort itself? i havent sat in it yet but judging by pictures there seems to be much less space for the driver because of that wall of china they have going on between the two front seats.

that emerald really is amazing. thanks for the tip i wouldnt even have considered that.

don't know about you but the answer's easily G8 for me.
Taurus is a FWD based platform so even if you get the AWD SHO I think it still might be front biased (although I'm not exactly sure about this).
the SHO also has a minivan-tier V6, pretty boring generic engine.
the G8 is one of the last specimens of its kind. first of all it's a Holden so that's pretty unique and cool IMO.
and of course it's a V8 RWD muscle sedan. much more interesting, not something you see everyday, as opposed to the shitty taurus

You have to go with the G8 GT

>>

doesn't change the fact that V6 is a soulless generic shit-tier configuration

My gfs Escape has a display that shows you where power is being directed. It sends power to the rear wheels from a stop every time and the only time it's full FF is under very light load cruising.
>>
>>14315165
If it comes with an ST badge.

it has to be 6 speed manual, they already have it.
>>
>>14315290
one of his requirements was "4 door", and it has been noted that he is interested in some comfy. The G8 is not very good as either a people hauler or comfy, as glorious as it is.

It is also very old.
>>
>>14315285
the panther had almost absurd levels of space. no new car can compete with that but if the sho has as much room as you say it does i cant imagine it being an issue

thats not the only thing to consider tho

>>
>>14315312

It actually has a curved cockpit feel from what I remember, almost like what people consider "race car", but nah you've got tones of room.

The G8 isn't -that- big, it's kind of just your regular mid size sedan. Seating in the back is fine for children/teenagers. Can't comment on the back seats of the Taurus as I was driving. If it's anything like the Fusion then it's limited for anyone past 6 feet tall. My head touches the roof on new Fusions
