I have the feeling the 924 is a better purchase than a miata
>>14243885
Have you driven both?
Very different feelings.
>>14243885
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHABDVBTKAIGVRVRJWKUWGWCCEKOFNVRCSHNAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>>14243887
No, explain.
>>14243885
Given the fact that early 986 boxster prices are comparable to 924 prices in the UK, I'd be more inclined to buy a 986 boxster OP.
>>14243885/
Lol have you ever repaired a 924? The parts and labor will cost as much as an entire Miata
>>14243921
??? 924s goes for like $3500 US, how much do 986 boxsters go for?
this is the only reasonable miata alternative
>>14243946
>>14243943
I don't know about the US, but in the UK a 924 that is in good shape fetches about 2.5k-3k the same as a base 1996/7 high milage boxster.
>>14243976
>>14243982
Damn
>>14243987
Based on today's conversion rates...That's a lot more than I would pay for a 986.
>>14243938
Parts are the same. DIY maintenance is easier than a Miata.
>>14243999
No and no
>>14244004
But I'm a Porsche mechanic and you're wrong.
>>14243987
More like it, but I really wouldnt pay more than 5k for it.
>ugly
>unreliable
>poser Porsche
yeah no
>>14244014
But I'm a Mazda mechanic and you're wrong
>>14244026
Jerk
>>14244015
The nearest 2000 boxter to me is $15k
>>14243950
>E30 coupe
>junk
Try actually driving one some time.
>>14244033
I have. Several in fact.
>>14244028
Ok
>barn find 924 near me
>$800
>minimal surface rust but...
>fucked interior
>paint is fucked
>most things fucked
>but it runs (kind of)
I know these fuckers are money pits, but god damn the temptation...
>>14243982
>costs £3k
>after insurance and shitty taxe ends up costing more than what you paid for the car.
Welcome to the uk
>>14244039
this
E30s are the most over rated shit
>>14244047
I've got a Porsche 997 and I pay £920 a year insurance. I'm 26 with no claims and my postcode is considered high-risk by the insurance company. Further to which I dont have a garage so this is why my insurance is as high as £920 a year.
Road tax on the 2.5 engine would be quite cheap.
i have a 1998 boxster. the insurance is cheap the tax is cheap and once you do the ims strengthening the same time you do the clutch its all good. its a surprisingly cheap car to run
MX5 has a much larger parts support and scrap pool to draw from, that's why they make so much sense.
cayman
>>14244015
>>14243982
Do you guys live in wonderland or what. Italy and germany apparently have no 986 under €9000 and theyre probably scams
>>14243999
Lol ok dude
>>14244131
Die in a fire.
>>14244144
so catch a cheap flight to the uk
>>14244416
Sure m8, Ill just give away hundreds of euros just to find out if some bloke on autoscout or whatever you use there is trying to sell me a cheap sports car or a piece of rust.
>>14244461
so go with option 2 and shut the fuck up
>>14243885
924
>slower than a Miata
>everything for it more expensive than a Miata because Porsche (even though it's really a VW)
MR2 is the only real option or an MGF assuming you can get those in murrica
>>14244481
Actually you know what, it would be nice to spend some time looking at the best I can find in a country and then touring it to try the various stuff. Too bad it's england.
>>14244461
>not knowing the uk has the best used car market in the world
shit you eurofags just sound bitter
>>14244492
>you eurofags
Get off your high horse already, jesus, youre in this fucking continent too.
>>14244515
"No"
the civic and the mr2 are the alternative
>>14243885
Rust buckets
>>14245404
924's were galvanized to protect from rust, faggot.
>no one mentions rx7
>>14243885
>924
Please don't. It's the only other Porsche that ranks below the 944.
>>14243885
do it, come back and tell us how it goes
>>14243885
Top kek.
>>14248018
916 brah
>>14245176
>civic
>>14248162
916 is really just a 914. However, they pretty rare (I think there are only 10 official 916 cars) and they're all considered prototypes instead of regular production cars.
And yes, the 914 was the other car I was alluding to in the post you quoted.
>>14243946
Junk. +1
>>14243999
You couldn't be any more wrong.
>>14243999
>>14248788
>>14250575
>buying a Miata over any Porsche ever.
Literally the only difficult things about the 924/944 are the clutch and the wheel hubs.
So many people have no imagination, no money, and no ability to turn a wrench.
It's 700 pounds heavier but it makes up for being fast.
>>14251037
I-Is that a Daytona?
>people recommending a 986
Am I on bizzaro /o/?
So what is a good Miata alternative? I have a '96 NA but I don't like the softtop and a minimal back seat would be cool. If I had $20K to blow I'd go for a BRZ but poorfag gonna poorfag.
>>14243946
You wont be able to find a e30 for the same price of a miata in the same condition. Also parts are more expensive for a e30
>>14251059
That's under $20k US
Use the spare money to retrofit a direct oil feed to the *MS to make it reliable
>>14251082
IMS*
>>14251059
>>14251082
>If I had $20K to blow
nvm reading is hard
>>14251039
Mitsubishi Starion
Chrysler Conquest
Dodge Conquest
Plymouth Conquest
It's the same car. The were between 150-200 hp.
>>14251108
Yeah, only noticed that it wasn't a Daytona after posting.
Still, the 2nd gen Daytona looked mighty similar to the Conquest
