bmw general : i bought a e36/5 edition
>>
i don't like the wheels.
but i have an e36 in the same color. best color for the e36 2bh.
>>
>>14239856
If your American enjoy being slow even with mods. I'd buy an e36 to be honest if the engines weren't such garbage. Hell even the e36 m3's are a joke.
>>
Hello I like these cars. Especially eith AC schnitzel wheeled
>>
>>14239862
tell me about it. the m44 i got in this is built by a race shop in miami fl and is still incredibly slow

i also got a set of style 22's with the purchase

has anyone here driven an e30 w/ 3L V8 M60B30 swap? how much do these weigh?

i wasn't looking for a BMW, but i came across this and i'm curious: http://newyork.craigslist.org/jsy/cto/5328902755.html

also what kind of price should this go for?
>>
>>14239862
American and European e36 are the same. Only the M3 is different.
And no the M50/2 isn't garbage.

A close friend of mine is an e36 guy and I just about blew his doors off with a 175 hp foxbody and he has quite a bit of work put into the engine. So that puts thing into perspective. I personally love the e30's and e36's in every way, but it's a shame that you cant get any decent power out of them.
>>
>>14239982
Lol, bullshit.
Stock M20 makes 170 and is 600lbs lighter than even the lightest foxbody.
also
>highway pulls
>having a 175hp 4.2 liter engine and talking about having power
irony
>>
>>14239923
Probably ruined the handling, which is the prime reason for buying an E30 in the first place.
>>
>>14239982
if its a 318 i can understand but m52's should have as much trouble thats weird

Talk about flushing money down the toilet. M44s are worthless from a performance perspective, if you want to keep the 4 you swap in a built M42 with a turbo, otherwise an aluminum block M5X

try to race a 323i, 325i or 328i
the 328 can be decently quick with cheap mods and weight reduction, you can get about 6 secs 0-60 and a low-14 sec 1/4 mile easily

>>
>>14239862
Yeah the euro motors would have been great to get in the M3, but at least the motor has cheaper parts, responds well to forced induction and we got the rest of the car with out compromise (diff excluded).
>>
>>14240198
e90's are pretty good cars and are quite modern for their age. a 328i is pretty easily in your price range.

if you dont mind a slightly older car you could get a VERY nice e46 330i, or an e39 540i but maintenance will be more expensive because of the v8 but the e39 chassis is one of the most solid bmw chassis ever.

anyone else want to chime in?

E36M3 with a good maintenance history and body reinforcements welded in.

Yeah the interior will fall apart but just glue it back together once with actual glue and it wont be a problem again (they used environmentally safe glue originally).

The car will be your best friend. Great place to be in a traffic jam, on a twisty road, picking up a woman, driving the interstate.

Then you're lying. A stock E36 325i wouldn't lose to a 175hp fox body let alone one with "loads of work done"

A fox body mustang weighs about the same as an E36 and the E36 has 189hp vs the mustang's 175. You're talking shit. E36 is the WORST generation of bmw 3 series by far, and you're trying to brag about beating one, it's pretty sad really.

Depends on what you want.

An E39 540i 6speed is in that range too and although they're heavy cars they're fun.

Alternatively you could probably cop a Nice e46 330i as well, as well as the M3 e36 as someone has mentioned before.

>>14240648
yep, i read it in some article that the svos acceleration is "about 9 seconds" but 0-60times states a 7.8 sec 0-60. So its about as quick as the 325i, but if the e36 has been modded the mustang would not keep up.

It's just a fact. Your shitty foxbody couldn't beat an M52.. especially not one with M3 cams and a tune.

You're talking out of your ass even with 3.70 gears you couldn't beat a 325 and certainly not a 328 or an M3, especially if any of them had the 3.91 LSD.

They make more power and they weigh less. You're talking about straight line highway pull bullshit which is the only place bench racing matters. I highly doubt you could even pull a 3.91 M20 e30.

No red flags. You will probably be replacing a leaking cooling hose or something else associated with the cooling system. Check for creamy coffe coloured substance under the oil cap upon buying/inspecting the car. If there is any, it means the head gasket is fucked. Thats pretty much it, the rest you can fix for cheap.

Why not just buy an M Roadster with an S52? Unless you are looking at high mileage Z3s an M won't be much more money and will hold its resale forever? Also you aren't getting over 250hp flywheel with the 2.8 that is just silly. You actually think that motor will make more than a 3.2L S50 with an S50 intake manifold and S50 camshafts? Ditto for the S52? Negatory batman. Not happening.

nothing wrong with the early m54b30s. But the 2.8 can be upgraded more easily

I absolutely agree. I don't know if I can get past the engine either. If its price was more reasonable I'd pick one up but they are not worth 50k. Kinda hoping the new M2 knocks down the price of the 1M. Well see. I'm pretty happy with my M roadster as is. Shame BMW didn't make an M of the new model.

definitely! E36 tourings are incredibly rare outside europe, i've seen some go for as much as an E36 M3 in my country.
