What guys would do is convert every mod to Truck Series physics. Hence why you'll see basically every noteworthy mod offer a .CTS variant, along with a car file converter.

Of course, it's easier to shitpost >LE JAMES BTFO LOLOL XD BTFO than actually know what you're talking about.

Yes, though the guy who got sued was making an IndyCar mod, and what fucked him in the court case was violating an NDA, not making physics adjustments.

I'm using the lite cracked install that I think has the Userdata folder in the game directory instead of Documents, and I deleted the new skin's folder. However, after doing that the new car variant is still ingame, just without a skin anymore.

I just saw your Rift article, that black box thing doesn't happen with the Vive and I'd imagine they sorted it with the retail Rift

The only downside of the (not final) hardware I tried was at first you notice the gaps between the pixels but it only took a few seconds for me to forget about it. I'd happily play racing games with that non-final Vive I used (which I think was higher res than the DK2 Rift)

Get your National A licence ASAP so you can join us online at the club linked in the OP. National A also opens up Quick Matches, which are great sources of cash. Add some club members as friends and various leaderboards in the game will be populated with their times, giving you something legitimately challenging to aim for.

Bahaha you get motion sick from it? Poor Oggy.

I've been using DK2 for well over 12 months with racing sims and love it, won't turn back to monitors, am well aware of the pixel gap and resolution limitations and also MORE aware of the fact that the final device is vastly improved there. I don't think it'll be perfect, but this is the first step into a brave new world of sim hardware, and I truly think it's the way of the future.

For other people who haven't worn one, at this point in proceedings DK2 works well in PCARS, ok-good in AC for hotlapping for fun but useless for racing/hotlapping for times because you can't change setup. It's wonky in R3E and it works fine in iRacing - they've made the HUD screens larger since you tried it, James.

The biggest limitation, arseface, and one that's not getting a huge amount of attention is that you're going to need a very grunty PC to drive the retail version. The DK2 runs 1080p at 75Hz. This means that if you're getting <75FPS, you get tearing and smearing that can make the viewer uncomfortable. But remember, it's rendering the game *twice* - which means you effectively need to be pulling 150FPS out of whatever you're playing.

The consumer version is running at 90Hz at 1200p - which means you're needing to push out 180FPS.

Going to take quite a PC to do that. I've got an overclocked i5 6600K, 16GB RAM, my racing sims installed on SSDs and a GTX970 I bought to wait to see if nVidia drops a card tailored for the retail version; push comes to shove I'll chuck a 980Ti in when I get my retail headset if nothing moves on that front.

But the whinges about an expensive product ain't nooooothing on the whinging that will come when people realise what they need to drive it.

People who've bought the DK units talk about "VR legs" and it's truly a thing. I've not suffered from motion sickness, nor has my other friend who races with one; we've tried them on every friend and family member who'll don the headset - so far I've had one person who's copped the motion sickness.

That said, you do get an unsettled kind of sensation after using it for a little while for the first few times and the key thing is to TAKE IT OFF before that happens, use short sessions with longer breaks to get used to it. Nobody I know - including the one friend who got ill - have had any problems after the transition period - and that's never lasted a full night of fucking around with it.

If you persevere to the point of discomfort to try and tough it out, there is anecdotal evidence from other users that you can actually reinforce the dizziness/nausea for next time - and long term.

On the PLUS side of it, though:

>Wheel to wheel racing has never been more convincing, or more immersive. I've tucked my front wheel in the gap between the wing and sidepod of a mate's car and driven in formation as you peer over at it.

>Even with limited graphics it demonstrates the ability of the human body to be fooled - the first time I went sideways into a wall through the gravel trap my hands left the wheel and almost went to brace for the hit.

>The sense of elevation change is much more convincing - and elevation change on tracks is one of the truly wonderful things about real track days.

>I'm faster with the OR. This is due to a few things, like way better situational awareness when racing close, but also because you can catch slides faster- you do what you do in a real car: look where you want to go and steer there. That element is worth more than it sounds like.

Pic related, FWIW.

if you are set up correctly go easy on the throttle and use smooth inputs on corner entry, getting gud would help too

So help me out guys, I am trying to drive with stability assist off, but I can't for the life of me get anything right.

What's the point of learning to drive without it? I already kinda know how to drive with traction control off, because even on the most permissive settings, it slows you down way too much and a little wheel spin is manageable anyway.
But what about stability? How can it improve my driving? How can I be faster by turning it off and learning how to not spin?
It seems like one of those things that take a ton of effort and the result is barely different than driving with it on.

Also, I'm using a gamepad
>>
>>14230213
If you only care about going fast, you can probably keep it on, but why wouldn't you want to know that you personally control your vehicle and anything that happens is because of your choices? That's what I enjoy, anyways.
>>
>>14230220
I tried exactly for that reason, but I can't manage it without going excessively slow.
Maybe is because of lolgamepad, or I just suck, I don't know.

But the longer I try and the longer I realise the efforts are not worth the results.
I mean yeah, ok I can "brag" about driving with no aids, but I'm still going as fast as people with aids on
>>
>>14230228
How do you have your steering set up? If you've been using stuff that won't let you oversteer to all hell, you might have an overly sensitive steering setup. Dialing it back a good bit might give you that extra control you need.
>>
>>14230234
I'm still trying to figure how to set it.
So far I set the sensitivity a bit low so I can make small corrections with minimal input without steering all over the place.
For the speed-relative filtering I set it so I can always steer more than necessary, even at high speed, to give me room in case something goes bad and needs bigger inputs to recover.

I probably need to tweak the sensitivity again because I'm not completely satisfied with it yet, small inputs (like barely touching the analog stick) still cause some excessive reactions more often than not.
But yeah, every time it looks like I'm throwing the car at the corner rather than carefully following a line, it's probably a mix of me sucking and the gamepad not being set properly yet
>>
>>14230240
>small inputs (like barely touching the analog stick) still cause some excessive reactions more often than not.

having some deadzone can help you there

It's not about deadzones, i'm talking about intentional inputs.
Think of the long straight between the two hairpins at hockenheim, it goes slightly to the left and really needs you to go gentle on the stick for the car to follow smoothly.
What happens here instead is that even the smallest input causes a little bit too much steering, so instead of following the slight left turn I am actually doing a light zig-zag.
My guess is the sensitivity needs to be toned down a bit more, but I haven't tested it yet.
>>
>>14230327

nigga where the fuck did you read this? that's straight up bullshit, the newewst nvidia and amd VR drivers have by now added functionality so this isn't needed anymore, it's some kind of interlacing that they are using to get around it. why do you think do they say a 970 is the minimum requirement? if what you said is true, even a 980Ti would be too shit for it.

oh I thought you were on a wheel.

If you are on a controller then assign 15-20% deadzone and play around with sensitivity till you find a sweet spot. In rf2 it creates this nice graph that should help you out with what you want.
>>
>>14230338
if a ps3 can do 3d splitscreen then a 970 should be enough for final vr
>>
>>14230370
I'm on pcars and the settings suck balls on this game.
You have to tweak your settings, launch a session, see if that works, quit the session, open settings again if it didn't work and repeat as necessary.
You can't even access the controller settings while in session and no graphs or helps of any kind of course.

Why would I need deadzones? Wouldn't that reduce the already limited stick travel that I have, effectively giving me a steeper input? Seems like the opposite of what I need here.
>>
>>14230410
deadzones would help with the problem you are describing.

You said small input translates into too much in-game, so you want to reduce your input even further via deadzones. 15% would be the absolute minimum IMO.
>>
>>14230417
Don't deadzones mean no input at all, followed by a steeper input curve because of the reduced effective stick travel?
I do need inputs, just smaller ones, that's why I was focusing on the sensitivity, to make the curve flatter at the beginning (so small ingame effect) and steep at the end (big ingame effect)
>>
>>14230428
>followed by a steeper input curve because of the reduced effective stick travel?

It becomes steeper at extreme full lock, but not at the start of steering.

just try it out.

Thumbsticks never fully go back to their original position which is why you can't drive in a straight line. Try going full lock to one side, release the thumbstick and drive forwards and you'll see you won't be driving in a straight line. Deadzone is meant to prevent that.

Second tip I can give you is to try to use the thumbstick as pic related to give you more precision for steering input.

It might also be a good idea to use the cockpit view to see how your steering input correlates to the in-game input. Might take some time to get used to it, but it's for the better.

I managed to play GT6 without TCS or any assists (except ABS), I can clock under 55 seconds on Tsukuba in 550pp NSX. It's kinda weird to control the throttle and brake on dualshock and steering with stick feels like I'm playing GTA with analog buttons. You'll make it, took me a few months to master corners and button sensitivity.

We struggle to drive modern race cars, does that crackhead actually think people can handle older cars? He might not be as retarded as Valrys when it comes to the handling of the series, but it'll be dead 3 races in.
>>
>>14232416
We've already done pickups in the gto's that went fine, the t290s are easier to save
>>
>>14232434
Pickups are less serious, pushing the limit less, fewer drivers, and generally better standards of driving
>>
>>14232434
We did pickups in the V8 Stock Cars, those went fine with the 8 people that did them. Put 30+ GTOs on a track, watch what'll happen. The difficulty curve is about the same between those two as well. T290 could go either way.
>>

So when are we getting a good Saturday series?
>>
>>14232457
Never, we keep getting all of these shit ideas and series.
>>
>>14232455
Most /ovg/ series should effectively be organised pickup races. That way there isn't a prolonged death (ovgf3) and no one gets too mad when it gets culled when the time is right.
>>
>>14232457
After the full enduracers pack is released. Will be an EC or GTP revival. We're just stuck in an interbellum which is why we're having lots of little series, because nobody wants to commit to something big that might be killed by hype for something else halfway through.
>>
>>14232474
Nah senpai. Plenty of people like points and doc and championship autism. They'd still end up organising something serious.
>>
>>14232457
If you wanted something good then /ovg/ (or 4chan in general) is not the place to be, my friend.

>>
>>14232575
Maybe bi-weekly mixed with Flat 6 for the alternating weekend?
>>
>>14232337
Well on one hand AC has a shit ton of community made road cars, on the other hand you have to pick and choose the ones you want and then for most of them you need to edit aero.ini for it to work then hope the creator did well on their own or copied physics from a good car

But when the stars aling and you find a well made car you like and a well made track you like (like touge or hill climb tracks) AC is excellent for just driving (until it updates and you have to apply the community car sound fix for 9th time in a fucking row)
>>
>>14232627
>>14232575
imo for ec it'd be really cool to have p2, gte and flat 6

have like a 103% quali rule for p2, 105% for gte and then flat 6 with the shitters
>>
>>14232645
103% and 105% are too easy desu

>>14232645

>shitters & pad users in cars with no TC or ABS
>>
>>14232682
have you driven the flat 6 mod? It's fucking easy to drive, it's worse with abs
>>
>>14232673
With those qualification rules the flat6 addition is entirely unnecessary as everyone can get within the time limit.
>>
>>14232695
perhaps, I just feel some people might not be able to make those limits as there won't be any assists. Flat 6 is much easier to drive without assists, so would therefore be better for shitters and pad users (as long as the autoblip that enduracers forgot to take out was still on).

Hello /ovg/ amd welcome to the new game show: "Goal or no Goal!". I'm your host anon and boy do i have something for you guys and gals.

How this game works is I will show you three different webms of three opportunities to score in Rocket League. However the webms will be paused at crucial times before the ball crosses the line and YOU will have to guess the outcome of the chance! Is it a GOAL? or NO GOAL?

I know you guys are excited to start, and believe me so am I, the webms will be labeled A, B and C. I ask you to include all your answers in the same post to make life easier for me. What does the winner get you ask? Absolutely fucking nothing.

How much time do you have? Until I go to sleep, which is basically any time between the next 2 and 5 hours.

So let's kick things off with webm A

I am writing this letter as a humble note of appreciation for the outstanding customer service provided by your poster tonight 14th of January 2016. I was facing the problem of posting a link and was attended by Mr. Anon, working as junior shitposter on /o/. Mr. Anon hardly took 10 minutes to rectify the problem of my post. The ability to provide the resolution quickly exceeded my expectations.

I really commend the prompt service provided by Mr. Anon. There was no request made to leave the imageboard, otherwise posters at the other place find lament excuses to take time in telling people to gtfo. He also advised me how to keep SJ away and downloaded the /ovg/ updater for me. I am really pleased with the knowledge and skills of your staff. Great service makes your customers feel that you care about developing a long-term relationship that means more than just making a sale.

I would love to recommend your company to anyone who needs a posting hep service in the future. Keep up the good work.

Anyone here knows what the fuck is the red marker in pcars telemetry supposed to indicate?

I am talking about the little red light that sometimes pops up on the front left suspension indicator.
I don't fucking get it, sometimes it looks like it indicates when the car is bottoming out, but then you hear and see your car scraping like hell and the marker doesn't always blink.
Sometimes it looks like it indicates when you run out of suspension travel, but then it lights on when you still have both travel and ride heigh left to spare.

I know it is somehow height/suspension related, but it works so randomly that it's hard to tell what the hell it is trying to show me.
Why does it come out? Why only on the front left suspension? Why is this game doing such a shitty job at providing me with basic information?

Pic related shows what I'm talking about, I found it on the internet so there is an extra blue arrow that points to something else (something that is a mystery too desu) so disregard that.

Pls halp

'Murrican Muscle Test Event is scheduled for 20:30 UTC (room opens at 20:00 UTC) this Sunday.

https://www.gran-turismo.com/ie/gt6/user/#!/clubid/1053805/event/1061784/

Car choice is limited to American cars no later than 1979. The technical regulations are as follows:
>PP: 535
>Max tyre: Sports Hard
>Max power: 530 hp (538 PS)
>Min weight: 1285 kg

The race will take place in the 'Club Lobby' - not an event room - so that settings can be changed between heats. Anyone interested in taking part in an upcoming GT6 series is invited to attend. Those who are not in favour of the 'Murrican Muscle proposal are especially invited - the purpose of the test events is to find a formula which satisfies the greatest number of people.

Well.....thanks. I quite enjoy it myself.

Also, why would you say
>not using miatas for spec racing
when that's exactly what we just did. The first series and the next series aren't spec series. Maybe the next one can be another spec series after this?

Some people just want to watch the Irishman burn(internally).
