If there's one problem with FWD, it's this. Fucking

If there's one problem with FWD, it's this. Fucking tiny ass engine compartments and everything being tucked away into some god fucking forsaken corner that you can't possibly reach without removing the whole fucking engine or taking apart half of the damn car.
Old Saab is chill though, Saabs can stay.
Why can't all cars be either RWD or have engines like older Saabs had, the engine was facing the right direction in those things.

because its more space efficient

THen why not make the cars rear engined, like the MR2 or that new Twingo?
>>
FWD is by design more economical, gives you more legspace for the rear seats and deeper bootspace, aswell as being generally better in winter-conditions due to more weight on the powered wheels

Still, I prefer RWD to FWD as a DD due to better tight-turning capability and simplicity

lets see morons trying to control a rear engine rear wheel drive

trunk space
RR Twingo has 188L, the FF Up has 251L
radiator still has to go in the front as well as a bunch of other crap

Naw nigga, look at this shit mang. I mean, Saab had their engine like in a RWD car, they were longitudinal.
>>
>>14223991
Yes but I thought the original complaint was having to take shit apart to access stuff. I don't have that problem with my Scirocco.

If a rear engine twingo is considered godly but it's maintenance is a bitch, is it really a godly car? I've seen more room to work on things in a laptop.

How do I change the spark plugs?
>drop the engine
Oil change?
>drop the engine
Replace the air filter?
>drop the transmission
Belts?
>dismantle the rear of the car
Rear wheels
>you do not want to know. But it involves a midget with a toaster.

FF is naturally stable, which is more important than being sporty.

>>14223745
The problem with packed engine bays has zero to to with engine configuration, case in point, the FR 300 ZX twin turbo. It just happens that the less space you leave for the engine bay, the more space you'll have for the occupants and/or to make the car smaller.

And to show you that transverse FF can have loads of space and easy acess on the engine bay, here's an example from a 70's peugeot 204.

Considering BMW found a way to utterly occupy an engine bay from an FR inline six, not really. It's really all about the design chosen.

What doesn't count as cherrypicking then? Another spacious FF engine bay btw.
