Only filthy plebeians hate driving in the snow

>ohhhh it's dangerous
>ohhhh it's so easy to crash

IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE IN THE SNOW, YOU ARE A BAD DRIVER, OR YOU WEREN'T TAUGHT PROPERLY.
>>
ok
>>
Ok
>>
Or maybe it just doesn't snow
>>
>>14210432
my only vehicle is a gt86 with stock tires ask me how I feel about snow driving.

Also I live in new england.
>>
>>14210454
If it doesn't snow in your area, then it does, you are excused.
>>
>living anywhere where it gets below 60 degrees American

Russian comfirmed
>>
>>14210473
yea it snows a lot in NE. But you should still be able to drive in the damn snow son. Obviously know your vehicles limitations, and don't go out if there is 6" on the roads.

You should still know how to operate your vehicle in the snow.
>>
>>14210477
I wish I didn't senpai.
>>
>>14210479
I do. But is objectively more dangerous and easier to crash in the snow.

Not just from losing control of your vehicle but from other people losing control of theirs as well.

'Drive 20% slower than you think you have to' is how to drive safely in the snow.
>>
>>14210477
>because it never snows in Oregon, New England, Maine, North Dakota, and basically every where else.

Nice try, Australian
>>
It snows an average of 1 day a year here.
And you expect people know how to drive in the snow?

They can't even drive in the rain, which it does 300 days a year
>>
>>14210489
>the other people will wreck me

That's why you give yourself 6+ car lengths if you are going out anywhere. But I'm glad you understand.
>>
>>14210496

>>14210474
>>
>>14210489
Or drive according to the conditions

Traffic generally goes the same speed here both summer and winter. Ofcourse there are times when doing 85kph is a bad idea, like when there is 20cm of heavy snow ontop of the usual ice
>>
>>14210489
it's not so much driving slower but leaving more room and giving yourself more time to stop and make turns. on rural roads and highways usually the most that'll happen is you ditch but in heavier traffic areas it's more common for people to slide into intersections or rear end someone
>>
>>14210477
>living in Florida
Just end your life.
>>
Breh try driving a RWD V8 from the 90's, you'd be terrified too.

I spin my tires when I hit a patch of ice, if it's snow GG
>>
i drove on pure fucking ice. it was so fucking amazing
>>
>>14210519
what life?
>>
>>14210537
too bad I have, and I did just fine. you just have to take it slow and easy.

>>14210539
driving on ice is so fucking fun. but I would not want to do it around anyone else. parking lots only.
>>
>>14210516
problem is you always have that one idiot thinking he's invincible and causing a pile up. also dumb fucks that slow to a crawl or even stop in the middle of the highway when visibility goes to shit

i don't know if you've ever heard of the 400 series highways but the 402 runs from Port Huron MI to London Ontario. it's a fairly open highway so the wind can really kick up and the traffic is also quite heavy. a few years ago a good snow storm hit and the blowing snow caused basically zero visibility and some dumb fucks got the bright idea that they'd just stop right in the middle of the highway which forced everyone else to stop too. so there they sat with snow blowing up against all the stopped vehicles causing it to start piling up which then made it impossible for anyone to move and plows couldn't get through to clear the road so the snow just kept building and building
>>
>>14210549
>not pulling over to the side of the road

are Canadians mentally retarded?
>>
>drive a part time 4wd Chebby Blazer
>10/12 months of the year its a boring, slow, automatic with a bland, breaking interior.
>snow comes
>its suddenly the funnest car I have, Miata is too low for all the snow
>drift everywhere in 2wd
>drive normal by flipping 4hi on
>best winter car ever
That's why I love winter and snow.
>>
>>14210554
If you can't see how do you find the side of the road? How do you know you're not already on it? Or even off the road already?

>open door look down. Oh look, snow with your tire tracks on it. That's a big help.
>>
>>14210554
traffic on that highway is a mix of Canadians and Americans but yes Canadians are mentally retarded. they had to send the military with helicopters to rescue people. police and locals took snowmobiles to hand out food and water and also took out people that were properly dressed for the cold. a lot of people that had nowhere to go were put up in public buildings in the local town/cities and some just stayed with families willing to take them in for the night. one idiot tried to walk it in nothing but jeans and a tshirt and was later found frozen in the snow'

i'd really love to know who the first fucks to just stop were, dumb faggots should have been fined for the millions it cost to rescue everyone
>>
>>14210432
I hate driving in the snow because I don't like my car rusting out from under me.

I tried to do a jturn into my parking spot on ice. When I turned backwards I realized I had no control over my speed on ice and was glad I hit a pole instead of my neighbors pole. My first winter accident ever in 6 years of driving in upstate NY. I loved driving in the snow in that truck. It was a perfect drift missile.
>>
>>14210586
the highway is open enough that most of the snow was blowing right over. you couldn't see shit due to the blowing but you'd still be able to find the road so just driving slowly would have been fine. it wasn't till people stopped and gave something solid for the snow to pile against did it start building up on the road
>>
>>14210605
here's a video showing more clearly what happened. around the 1 min mark you'll see the road is very much clear except for where the trucks are stopped allowing the snow to blow against them and build up

I'm genuinely surprised. Of course you don't have to do immature handbrake slides like myself but holy shit, how bad are you if you're genuinely worried about some snow? You just drive slower and that's fucking it, there's no special technique or anything, if you can drive in rain you can drive in snow.

So no >>14210474 Those retards are not excused. If they can't even drive in rain they shouldn't have a license.
>>
>>14210586
Pro tip retard: Actually try it.
Go slow and put your wheels of the road. You will notice even before the first one is off completely
>>
I'm okay with snow, I just hate the fucking salt.

I'm became more worried about snow since I moved to a more mountainous region.
Getting stuck on a hill midway and sliding down is my biggest fear.

>>
>>14211564
A fridge in a very cold place I'd imagine
>>
I have my freezer set at -20c I heard that was the best compromise between longevity and taste. I have my fridge set at 3c.

Thoughts?
>>
>>14211632
>Keep the refrigerator temperature at or below 40° F (4° C). The freezer temperature should be 0° F (-18° C).
I'd do what you do and set the temps a bit lower than the guideline values.

Salt is the only bad part about winter driving. Forces you to wash all the time or stop giving a fuck about the vehicle you use that time of year.

I don't mind driving in the snow.. i do mind being around other people driving in the snow.

In college i had a 240z, (i'm an oldfag and they were somewhat cheap at the time). I worked at a video store (in the long long ago people had to go to a store to get porn. They would come in.. pick out some random regular movie, look around alot then sneak into the porn room as stealthy as possible.)

anyway the store closed at midnight and it started snowing around 9. i had had the z maybe a month or two and wasn't to keen about driving it in the snow. i shared my displeasure with my coworkers. The manager, a middle aged man with a brand new toyota tercel, told me i would be fine, just break with the engine.
"uh what, no"
"suit yourself kid"
"no, engine breaking puts all force on one wheel as the brake system distributes the force to all four"
"kid i have been driving for nearly 30 years, just engine brake"
Store closes, I drive slow as fuck out the parking lot.
Manager pulls away, engine brakes, looses traction and goes right into the curb, broke the much of the suspension on that wheel.

Moral of the story, nobody knows how to drive and a s30 does handle o.k. in the snow if you put some weight in the back, but the body will rust completely in half.
>>
>>14212153
he just sounds like a poor driver honestly. there's nothing wrong with a little engine breaking, but I definitely wouldn't rely on that 100% in the snow.

Swefag here

I fucking love winter. Driving to and from work in my e46 with the traction control turned off is what gets me through the day.
>>
>>14210952
Ayy lmao only fell down three times getting to the bottom of the driveway to get rid of the snowplow's gift, and only fell down twice walking back up to the garage.
>>
Driving in the snow is fine
its starting my car
siting in the cold
scraping my windshield
shoveling my driveway
that all sucks
>>
> small, light car
> sometimes has to go half the speed of others
Sadly there's no two lane roads on my route.
When there's nothing going wrong with my car when I drive, I enjoy driving in/on the snow, it's challenging sometimes.
