there are unionized shops however mine is not. and yeah youll need math if you want to go through a journeymanship and make real good money, but an operator makes 18-20/hr usually and most of your job is pushing a few buttons and touching off a probe tool, and then waiting between 2-20 minutes per part (this is downtime you can use to play with your phone or whatever)

check that out and just apply at as many as you can, even if you can get in as a manual machine operator its a food in the door and 90% of machine shops will be willing to train you because it means they dont have to pay someone with a degree
