What's up /o/

A while ago i went to have the suspension on my 88 aw11 looked at for some shaking when braking.

Anyway thats getting fixed but while they were down there they showed me how one of my engine mounts was nonexistant. Pic related.

My question is are the polyurethane engine mount inserts from twosrus my best bet now that its time to get new ones? Theyre 85 dollars for all four. I want to do what's most in spirit with the stock aw11 and i feel like the ride is rough enough as it is but then again ive been driving without an engine mount and a 30 year old suspension so for all i know it will actually be an improvement.

Oh and also how shitty does this rust look?

Put in my new AFM a week or so ago, figured I'd rig an intake while I was at it. Not sure if anyone else has run into this problem with shortram intakes in an AW11, but the filter sits right under the hood vents exposed to rain and etc. So while trying to make some sort of shield, I realized the piping straight from the intake is shaped perfectly to cover the filter as well as to guide water or anything else away from it. Hose clamp literally latches to the vent and works perfectly, just in case anyone else runs into that problem

what would you pay for a NA MR2 mk2 in decent condition?
along that note, how much would new suspension cost? a turbo swap?
>>
>>14211637
>a turbo swap?
Don't if you have to ask. Buying a more powerful model from the get go will be a lot cheaper and more reliable.
TL;DR Don't
>>
>>14211637
Depends on the turbo swap and if you're doing it yourself or sending it to someone else to do it. I know there's some company that specializes in MR2s that will swap out everything in an NA MR2 to give it the gen IV 3S-GTE that they put in the Caldina for $4800, but my guess would be around $1500-$2000 if you were to do it yourself

would you rather daily an aw11 or a sw20?
>>
>>14204634
>>14216126
I have daily driven SW20 for years and it's actually a good daily driver:

For one it has surprising amount of space for your stuff, the space behind the seats is more than enough for groceries, you have a decent sized trunk and more space under the frunk especially if you get rid of the spare tire.
The car has surprisingly pleasant ride quality and the cockpit in particular is a very nice place to be. Seats in particular are very comfy and offer lots of support during spirited driving. SW20 not being a "pure" sportscar and having some aspects of GT cars shows here in a good way.
Given it's Toyota it is reliable as fuck (especially in N/A form) and in the unlikely scenario you actually need spare parts for it you will be able to get them dirt cheap from just about anywhere as it shares most of it's parts with more common Toyota models. However there are few SW20 specific parts like brake calipers that can be a pain in the ass to get if you live in middle of nowhere in small remote country like I do but there are very few parts like this.

Sadly I can't say anything about AW11s as I have never seen one that isn't a rustbucket that falls apart from you just looking at it's direction but as far as daily drivability goes SW20s beat W30s hands down just for not being convertibles and actually having storage space compared to W30s that literally have ZERO storage space apart from having microscopic storage space behind the seats.
>>
>>14216126
aw11. I already do. The only issues I have is when the sun is out. I really want to get a tinted strip across the top of my windshield.
>>
>>14216636
the sw20 isn't a "pure" sports car because it's heavier than the AW11?
>>
>>14204678

Best performing car in the MR family with an engine swap, also aesthetically pleasing with a lotus body kit. But at that point you just have a lotus that's 10 grand cheaper, so worth it.

OK, free is a bit of an exaggeration. It was sitting SORNed at my bro's place for the best part of nine months because my dad had loaned him his S2K. Wound up going to me because he's moving to London, so needed it gone, and it just happened I needed a new car because I'd part-exed a decent econobox for a fucked Saxo VTR because I'm a complete moron. I still had to pay to get the Spyder back on the road.

are the oversteer issues on the second gen really that bad? or is it just that people don't know how to drive them properly? I want to get one as a project car and love the look of them, just trying to see if it'l kill me or not.
>>
>>14221143
there are issues for sure, but you can mostly avoid them by driving properly.

mainly, the back wheels tend to toe out on suspension rebound, and it's difficult to recover from without practice.
>>
>>14220039
Is that as far as the roof goes down???
I was actually getting out of my own aw11 today and was wondering if there were convertible ones and that I have never seen them.
>>
Which one of you has a set of coilovers to sell me?
>>
>>14221143
Like early S2000s SW20s have rear suspensions that under hard (and poorly timed) braking allow for rear toe-out which can catch poor drivers off-guard. However the real handling problems on SW20s (especially with the 93+ ones with "fixed" suspension) has to do with the car having MacPherson suspension with little to no negative camber in front and ridiculous amount of toe-in at rear with stock suspension settings. Both of these lead into mid- and corner-exit understeer and trying to counter that can lead into slide that CANNOT be corrected due to the retarded stock suspension settings. The former can be fixed with camber adjusting crash bolts and the latter by getting a wheel alignment and telling to reduce the rear toe-in at the smallest amount that is still on green on the alignment machine. Doing these small and relatively cheap changes make the car handle better especially when trying to correct a slide.

I have driven a SW20 for 4 years now and I have only snap-oversteered it once and even then it took having a really slippery winter weather, shitty worn out tires and poorly timed mid-corner braking to initiate it so I can say that the snap oversteer thing is grossly execrated definitely doesn't happen on it's own.
