Is it more important to have the majority of the weight in the middle rather than have a 50/50 distribution?

Ouch 20 worst cars of all time, didn't know Saturn Ion was that bad.

"The Ion was so poorly made and bland that not only was it a major factor leading to the demise of Saturn, but also it still haunts owners to this day. In February 2014, General Motors announced a massive recall of 2.6 million vehicles to fix faulty ignition switches. This recall included every Saturn Ion ever made"

>>
>>14181297
The fact that they don't know drivetrains from layout triggers my autism, too
>>
>>14181967
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't it depend on the application? Wouldn't a track day be good to have 50/50 but not so much for a drifter?
>>
>>14181967
Maybe not for a dragster. Even with Mid and rear engined cars, 50/50 is great for tight twisties, and going flat out.
>>
>>14182154
actually 5050 is good for drifting because oversteer is easier
You don't necessarily want a lot of oversteer on the track
>>
>>14181967
Do you drive? 50/50 FR is perfect. It means that the static mass distribution of the vehicle doesn't bias to either set of tires and that the driver needs to induce throttle or brake to control the back. On time track that's all you want.

>all these idiots thinking 50/50 is best
First of all, weight distribution across two wheels is useless to know is the vehicles weight isn't centralised well. A vehicle with 45% before the front axle, 10% between, and 45% behind the rear axle woukd handle like a pig. Mass centralisation is equally, if not more, important as weight distribution.

Now read this
http://automotivethinker.com/chassis/stop-and-weight-a-5050-weight-distribution-is-not-optimal/
Moderate rear weight bias causes
>better acceleration
>better braking
>better cornering
>better corner exit

Tl;dr 50/50 sucks

I have this question also
the ratios quoted here are for static weight distribution
and its obvious that the most dense part of the car is the engine
