Anyone driven a Fiesta ST?

All the reviewers seem to love it,
but is it as fun as they say it is?

There is one owner in my office and he likes it when it isn't broken. He had les trouble with his K series MG.

Fun to drive, but the driving position is ape-like, and the interior is horrendous.

Also, not as fun as any fast Clio (except the shitty 200 Turbo), which suffers from the same problems, but makes up for it by feeling more urgent and handling better.
>>
>>14159283
How can a driving position be ape-like? Do you have to operate the medals with your knuckles?
>>
>>14159294
When your feet are in the perfect position, the steering wheel is too far away because the rake adjustment is shit. So you're either constantly reaching out too far forward, like an ape would with their long arms, or your legs are cramped up.
>>
NO ITS A FUCKING FORD FIESTA
>>
>>14159315
Oh, that makes sense. Can't see it being a particularly big problem, though.
>>
>>14159328
I drove it around for a week, and I'd say that in day to day driving, it wasn't a huge issue, but when driving "spiritedly" it felt like you didn't have total control of the car, the position was just taking something away from the experience.

Interestingly, some guys who I've worked with in the past said the same about the Lancia Stratos, though that was because the pedals were so offset from the seat.

In contrast, I owned a 197 Clio for 3 years, and although it had the same problems, the chassis felt more alive underneath you, so whatever you were losing from the steering, you gained back through feeling the body move beneath you.
>>
Ford shills, all of them

They seem pretty good from reviews.

It's basically a FWD turbo'd econobox, anyone who argues this is a fucking goof. The new RS looks promising
>>
>>14159555
>What is a hot hatch
>>
>>14159555
>take tiny econocar
>put turbo on it to make it fast

what part of this doesn't sound fun?
>>

a shitbox

nope

When will europoors learn?

go back to paint boats
>>
I drove one and honestly I liked my 06 Civic SI that I had better. Felt pretty meh to me. I did really enjoy the Focus ST tho.
>>
>>14159555
Whats so bad about that? It's cheap and the aftermarket is great.
>>
>>14159711
>hot hatch
LOL getting cucked by marketing
>cheap shit box with some "race" shit thrown in so idiots will buy it.
>>
>>14159739
>fastER
It's still slow. A tiny eco car and making it fast is like the original cobra, or escort cosworth (for their time).
>>
>>14160258
Or "cheap shit box extensively modified to provide a good deal of enjoyment for little money". I don't see how this is so difficult to grasp.
>>
>>14160270
who cares, it's a affordable fun and quick enough for most people other than benchracers to enjoy.

The shitty ST fiesta is $22k with no options added.
>>
>>14160353
The awd Focus ST is $36k!!!

Speed is in the eye of the beholder. A tiny slow car can feel just as quick as a big fast car.

I own it's bigger brother the FoST. I passed on a Fiesta due to the interior being a lot junkier than the Focus and I wanted the extra space.

Can't go wrong with the FiST though if you are looking for something smaller than the Focus. Fun to drive and honestly a little crazier than my FoST.
>>
>>14160353
24k MSRP is cheap as shit for a new car you sperg wtf are you smoking?
>>
>>14159159
I've got a mountune Fiesta ST. 215bhp, and 0-60 in about 6.4. Its quick enough that you will beat most stock cars off the lights. Interior is shit though.

Good fun in the twisties because its light and planted. Stock tyres suck balls. TLDR: Great cheap to run european car, ideal for someone in their early twenties looking for a "Stepping stone" car to hoon about until their insurance premiums calm down enough to let them have the car they actually wanted.

It gets about 325 miles to a tank, with my style of driving having several 0-100 pulls, as well as a lot of highway, and urban driving. The grip sucks in the wet. The back seats are awful. Boot space is good for a car of that size, I hate the fact that the rear bumper has a cut out for quad exhaust, but you only get a twin. Pls someone develop an s1 style exhaust. Regularly driven from the midlands down to london, and it handles long journeys just fine, some of the other posters mentioned driving position, but as a tall fucker I've never noticed this.

8/10 total
>>
>>14160476
>24k for a fwd shit box
>no options
>but hurrr it has magic turbos
That is not cheap at all. The only good one is the RS and it starts at $36k
>>
>>14160489
Only argument he will through is it being fast but it's not
>>
>>14160489
>>14160499
You delusional bench racers really do have a screwed perception of whats affordable relative to features.

Maybe if you stopped being poorfags for once in your life, it would actually make sense that these cars are hardly expensive.
>>
>>14160636
>getting cucked by the dealership then trying to justify them online
Okay faggot, keep getting scammed.
>>
>>14160692
Find a faster car with equal extra dealership/oem options for under what the FiST/FoST are selling for.
>>
>>14160726
>>14160726
You realize just because it's the only car in a segment doesn't mean it's not still a rip off right?

Lets say an average equipped focus st is the price up there, $29.8 k. That wasn't even all the options, just the recaro seats option.

0-60 6.3 1/4 mile 14.9, but it's lol FWD shit.

So for $29.8k I can get a:
>370Z (faster)
>frs/brz (tiny bit slower but rwd and better looking)
>VW GTI (faster)
>fiat abarth (little slower but cheaper)
>wrx (faster)
>mx5
>mini cooper s
>genesis coupe

Again, just because those cars are in that class also doesn't mean they aren't a rip off.
>>
>>14160793
So then its not the car that's a rip off, its the extra options that are a rip off.

That's what they are designed to do, grab extra money.
>>
>>14160726
go back 10 yrs and buy a SRT 4 or 5 yrs and Buy a Cobalt SS
>>
>>14160793
All those cars have 1 thing in common.

They are all slower than a 29.8 k 5.0
>>
>>14160851
similar, yes, but those aren't necessarily in production now are they?
>>
>>14160872
You can still get them. And cheap to with low miles.
>>
>>14160851
ever heard of inflation?
>>
>>14160913
Wtf does inflation have to do with a 10 yr old and a 5 yr old car. The Neon started at 20k and the cobalt started at 21k new. The prices are about the same if you would have bought them loaded to a Focus ST starting price.
>>
>>14160950
the neon in todays money would have been 27k

the colbalt would be priced relatively the same in today though
>>
>>14160979
Ok so your point is that faster cars would cost similar money.
>>
>>14159159

I got a Fiesta ST last month, and so far im enjoying it.

Pros:
I previously owned a 2010 diesel Fiesta which was very slow. So having more power is a lot of fun.

In the UK it is probably the best bang for your buck for a new car.

Fuel economy is good if you don't drive like a cunt.

Insurance isn't too bad considering the power. But im 22 and insurance is a bitch here.

I was able to get a good price on a new one because of a few minor defects. Fiesta ST2 with some extras for $24k

Cons:
The intertior is not the best with a lot of plastic and dosent have many interesting features.

Its nippy but not really fast.

I was considering a GT86/BRZ but they were a bit out of my price range and I need more seats and boot space.
>>
Most of the people posting in this thread have never driven a Fiesta ST. I've owned one since 2014. The driving position does take some getting used to but other than that the car is fantastic. It's absolutely something you have to experience for yourself. The car truly is greater than the sum of it's parts.
>>
>>14162025
I've had mine since a similar time and despite owning several cars it really is the go to for safe and economical fun. Benchracers do hate it though, and I'm learning that seems to be the case with most "fun" cars *cough MX5 cough*

It's well balanced, throttle response is manic, can carve back roads without making you eat trees and best of all you can teach your kids how to drive stick on it since it's only like 15k for a used model
