>ITT: What car do you wish your country had?

Who's retarded idea was it to cancel this car in America, and Australia for that matter. America missed out on arguably the best ford sedan/mini truck ever. It can make so much power and the platform has potential to be whatever they mold it to be. America really missed out with their inline sixes too, the 250 2v, and the 4.0 turbos are both great engines.

It's a fucking joke that we never got any of the type r's, fast small coupes/hatchbacks, nah North America doesn't need em. But I guess I can't blame them, Turbo SS sold like shit, the frs/brz has twindling sales. North Americans only care about muuh muscle, and that's fair seeing north America has the blandest straightest roads known to earth.
>>
I really wish we could get the 2 door Focus and Fiesta hatches in the states. Particularly the Fiesta, I'd love an ST but the 4 doors look weird.

We should have gotten more Alfa Romeos. For some reason I have a fetish for them.

Amerifag here man. That was the Smart roadster, never made it to America, but would have been an absolute beastly track toy with the right modifications

And on the topic of cars I wish Mercedes had brought to the US, the A45 AMG
>>
>>14144034
That looks like it would sell very well in America. Probably with bigger engines than what was offered in Europe though.
>>
>>14143947

If Ford wanted to make a 4-Door Falcon-like car they could easily do that with their current global RWD platform (mustang) Unfortunately they either don't see a market for it or they just don't have the balls. (i also miss the crown-vic)

GM developed the Alpha platform as its new global RWD platform and we got some pretty good cars already off of that.

I did really want the Falcon sold here though but we at least got the Chevy SS (holden Commodore)
>>
>>14144048
The 45 AMG would have come to america with the same engine, the non-AMG models would have likely gotten better engines in the states though

Still, the G cabrio still gives me the biggest boner
>>
But the falcon also isn't a big boat, not that I don't like Crown Vics, but damn they're heavy.

The Falcon's build quality isn't that great, and the inline six, as much as I love it, isn't a modern engine. It's also very thirsty around town, probably 14-15L per 100KM, although it goes down to a respectable 8.5/9 per 100km on the open road.

It's certainly superior to the even-more outdated Crown Victoria, but that's really not an achievement.

The basis for the current Falcon has it's platform origins in 1998, and it shows.

Pic related, my Fairmont Ghia.
>>
>>14144114

>>
>>14144115
You have a point, I did a presentation on the history of the Falcon. (I have a 61 "UTE" I'm building " As soon as they modernized it in 98 it has pretty much been face lifts on face lifts. With a few changes in engines. Might be a forbidden fruit thing for me. But that six makes great power, and the v8s, well are American v8s, so big displacement for ehhh power because MUH AMERICAN STUBBORNNESS
>>
>>14144115
Speak for yourself uleh, my XR6T averages 13.5L/100km with mainly country-spec 70-90 zones, don't even thrash it too hard.

And yes, the build quality is so shit and yet despite this the engine + ZF 6-speed manages to last well over 500,000kms in taxis.
Now imagine if they were built by non-spacks on a half decent budget.

>>14144075
They're not even that heavy for a large sedan, a good 200-300kg lighter than VE commodores.
The problem is that the chassis was designed by a retard which when combined with the massive, pig iron block (bent my mates engine hoist. He works at a 4x4 specialist, they are THAT heavy) and the pov spec suspension makes them FEEL like they weigh 3ton.

To be perfectly honest, the mondeo is actually a better car in every way. Damn near the same external size, same internal size and they drive 10x better. It's no wonder the falcon died, it's just disappointing the last real I6 has to die with it.

You are now imagining a barra with an alloy block and direct injection in a mustang-based falcon coupe.
>>
>>14144115
About the only real things I found with the later Fatcoons was the chassis is a bit 'meh', (no sportscar handling!) they eat brake disks like they're made of cheese and some of them tended to munch the diff once in a while. Depends on the model, most of the latest ones are generally well enough sorted out of the factory
>>
>>14144185
Barra in a mustang.... Mmmmmmmmmmmm
>>
>>14143947
No, they put v8s in family sedans and some how got off calling them muscle cars. There is a reason holden and ford went broke, fuck them.
At least now we're getting real muscle cars in.
>>
>>14144152

They benchmarked the newer ones against the 90s BMW 5 series, and it emulates the E34 and E39 to an extent, just lower tech and shittier build quality.

My Ghia looks nice on the outside, but the rust proofing was shit. Little bits of rust on metal joins in the engine bay, under the rear window near the boot, bolts that hold panels in rusting, etc etc.

They are still too heavy for my tastes, 1750KG.

All that being said, if you were going to build yourself a high horsepower monster, you'd get yourself the XR6T and do a few mods, and you'd have a crazy amount of horsepower.

Btw, are you running the 250 engine? Ford Australia kept running the Ford 250 engine until the 1980s, so there are a few more updates that Amerifats never got like aluminum heads.
>>
I'm running a 200, just a 250 destroyed. I'd kill for an Aussie head. Mmmmmmmmmmmm. Then I could actually port my intake. Lol
>>
>>14144185
>To be perfectly honest, the mondeo is actually a better car in every way.
Yeah they're not a bad car for a large daily if you do a lot of highway driving, hauling people around and generally don't give any bother. About the only killer for car enthusiasts is they're a bum-dragger, which 9/10 car buyers don't give a fuck about anyway.

>>14144219
I can see some of the turbo 4's getting thrown in a ditch when the Mustangs come here and replaced with the Barra
>>
One of my dream cars is to put a Barra in a first gen round body falcon. The Barra is an amazing engine, almost same performance as the 2jz-gte, but a bit bigger. True to American fashion.

>Speak for yourself uleh, my XR6T averages 13.5L/100km with mainly country-spec 70-90 zones, don't even thrash it too hard.

I consider anything over 10L per 100KM to be excessive, but then again I'm a filthy kike hypermiler. Either the transmission or variable cam knocks the revs down to 1800 when I hit 95, so at that point I'm doing just under 8L per 100L.

Thinking about getting an EcoPLI G6E with the ZF, my Ghia is a series 1 BA so I have the poverty spec 4 speed. Then I won't have to worry about fuel, and it actually performs better than the petrol version.

As for the reason why the Falcon is dead, no export market, anti-hoon laws, high labour costs, failing sales, comparatively high fuel consumption, the list goes on. Plus they are seen as a bit of a dad or bogan car.

Don't forget the rise of the SUV.
>>
>>14144240

If you actually wanted to buy one, now is the time to do so, the Australian dollar has taken a shit over the last 12 months.

The Alloy heads are literally sitting around in junkyards doing nothing, plus the later ones came with EFI. You should crack on to one.

The most expensive thing would be the postage itself, m8.
>>
>>14144330
I guess it all adds up. Doesn't mean I don't want it still. Lol
>>
>>14144355
Hmm, I think I might do that, maybe for a turbo project or something. Very interesting
>>
>>14144245
All would be forgiven if they had've given the XR5 mondeo an LSD.

And yeah i'm willing to bet a good chunk of the first batch of ecoboost were bought specifically to have a barra thrown in.

>>14144230
Oh fuck yes, how did i forget. Little bits of rust in random spots on my XR6T and the shit's from 2007, no tow bar so it's never been in the ocean.
My plan when i first got my XR6T was to give it around 340-370rwkw, but honestly it just drives like shit. Feels like a 30 year old car already, and i don't want to be dumping money in it just to end up pissing it off in a couple years.
So now i'm selling it and thinking of what else to get, thinking maybe LS400 and seeing what can be done with the 1UZ.

>>14144195
There's a good reason the FGs eat brakes, it's because the stupid cunts at ford decided in all their wisdom that the BA-BF (which already had a habit of having massive issues with brakes overheating and warping due to being undersized) brakes were too big, so the FG XR6T actually has SMALLER brakes the BF XR6T, which as an owner of one let me tell you are barely adequate.

It's just so annoying. The falcon as a general thing has/had so much potential, but it was ruined by incompetent fools.

Oh well. In 5-7 years i'll pick up an ecoboost mustang, FG barra and TR-6060.

>>14144330
It's bad, man. I'm pretty sure i have a fucked sensor i can't find with my OBDII scanner because it literally does not go under 10.5L/100km no matter how hard i baby it.

In comparison, my old non-turbo with the 6-speed manual would average high 8s with the same sort of driving.

Go take a look at mondeos before you get another falcon, they really are just straight up better if you don't mind the FWD too much.

>>14144417
Nope, hence why it's super easy to spot ex-cop FGs.
They have the real old school looking FPV wheels because they're the smallest (18") that will clear the brembos the cops demanded.
And even THEN they were complaining about the brakes on the falcons.

The biggest problem is that there's no cheap upgrade path. You do territory rotors and aggressive pads and if you need more, you now need to drop $2k+ on a set of brembos, talking $4k for the good 355mm 6-pot ones.

My XR6T has the biggest brakes that came on non-FPVs, with DBA T3 rotors and bendix ultimate pads and with my fat ass in the car with a full tank and my tool kit in the boot they are right at the limit of being trustworthy for sporty shit or long, steep hills.
Now imagine the normal 298mm with ford-spec (ie, cheese) rotors+pads.
>>
>>14144576
Didn't know that brakes were such a big problem on the Falcons. Again, I still want one. Lol

>>
>>14144603
Once you put decent quality rotors on them, they're not really a problem on the normal non-turbos providing the car isn't loaded up.

The problems begin when you start talking XR6T/XR8 and/or heavy loaded wagons, the standard brakes just don't cut it.
Mine are fine now, but we're talking $550 with me fitting them just for the fronts alone, and anything less i wouldn't trust to an extended twisties section with 280rwkw worth of XR6T.

If ford weren't cheap morons, starting right with the BA all the non-turbos would have come with the 322mm fronts and 303mm rears (of decent quality, not cheese shit) while the turbos/xr8 would've had the 4-pot 355mm fronts and 328mm rears.
Still leaves the FPV gear as being better with 6-pot fronts and 355mm rears.

The FG XR6T, for example, has 322mm fronts and 303mm rears which considering the power is completely unnacceptable.
