I'm building an LED VU meter for my car that will probably go on the dash. Should I avoid red or blue LEDs? I don't really want to get pulled over and accused of impersonation. I would prefer to use either red or blue LEDs though because it matches other electronics in my car. Stereo is red backlighting and blue text and RD is blue dot matrix display.
Red LED intensity is probably something like 6000mcd and blues are around 19000mcd. I also may not go with discrete LEDs and instead go with a bar, 10 LEDs on one package and diffused lenses. Haven't decided yet. LM3915 will be the LED driver.
