Rust makes you look poor. Instantly.

did they permanently park that thing on the bottom of the ocean, how does a relatively recent car rust that badly
>>
>>14137650
>Quebec plates

Lots of road salt.
>>
Looks ugly and might weaken structural integrity, highly doubt it though. Just looks bad and means water is accumulating in your car through small passages
>>
>>14137650
>>14137646

Never, ever washing your car and letting the salt sit on your car's body indefinitely. I have seen this before in New York.
>>
>>14137669
here's a question for you mr auto body, i'm looking at an older foxbody that has rusty rockers on both sides behind the front wheels and a rust hole on one fender, but the rest of the car including the undercarriage is clean. What would it cost me to make that car rust free again?
>>
>>14137650
I'm from binghampton and the salt is bad enough here. In quebec your car probably melts in about a decade.

Yea, I cant jack up my car on this side because the body just bends instead lol

I'm honestly surprised road salt is still being used. For all the whining about the environment no one seems to be in any kind of rush to stop dumping thousands of tons of salt onto the roads.
>>
>>14137696
If you're going to a body shop to have it done, forget about it. Body shops charge enormous amounts of money. Just do it yourself if you have access to an air compressor. Buy a patch, weld it in or glue it on with panel bonding adhesive. Shoot some direct to metal spray paint on it and call it a day
>>
>>14137777
not used in CA
>>
>>14137796
but then it will just come back worse eventually, won't it? I'm in western PA so we do get plenty of snow and salt.
>>
>>14137818
should I just pass on the car?
>>
>>14137803
Well no shit. You have to get snow before roads get salted.
>>
>>14137803
I hear they don't use it at all in Mexico either.
>>
>>14137777

No salt used in Colorado.
>>
>>14137696

Just avoid a body shop, even if people make fun of you for doing it you can laugh at them while you count your $100 bills.

Body shops are a rip-off, since a majority of their work that comes through is paid by insurance companies they can charge out of the ass and get away with it. (Same reason why Medical stuff costs a lot of money).

>>14137818
Are you planning on driving the car in the winter? If you don't drive it in the rain it won't rust, simple as that.

If your frame's okay then no problem

If you ain't got a frame then.. well, depends on what part of the body is rusted.

The salt is bad, but that liquid salt brine shit they spray on the roads is 10x worse. We have that in Ontario, as well as the rock salt, and it's fucking horrendous. I used to have a Mazda3, fucker started rusting on me after only a few years. The older Mazdas were notorious rust buckets anyways, lots of bad designs that garnered stone chips and allowed water to pool (inside that third brake light especially, they all end up crying rust tears).

British Columbia doesn't use that shit, they just plow and sand the roads and they're fine. Ontario and Quebec are full of safety-cuck faggot liberals who adamantly demand that the roads be covered in this shit non-stop, all winter, or else they'll sue the local government for not maintaining the roads to their standard.
>>
>>14137876
Well good for them. I hope they have fun enjoying their immaculate car bodies while smoking a fat fucking joint and just having a great time.
>>
>>14137889
I won't drive it when the roads are bad. But it's probably going to be my daily most of the year.

And eventually I'd like to mod it and have a nice racecar. It's fully stock, 100k miles, automatic trans with the overdrive belt fucked up. I jewed the guy down to $1800. There's no point to modding it if it's just gonna be a rusty piece of shit though.

There's no point in trying to keep a car rust free if it's your daily. Either park it until summer or live with it

>tfw stuck in NY
>on average there's more salt on the road than there is actual ROAD

Kill me, please, at least before my car turns into dust and I get sideswiped by an Ithacanite in a brand new Volvo drunk off Organic Homestyle Microbrewery Alcohol Substance (only $7.99 a bottle).

>British Columbia
>No "safety-cuck faggot liberals"

Its great that BC doesn't use salt on roads (most non-urban areas in Ontario don't either), but don't blame it on us having more of these "faggot liberals" because that's a crock of shit.
