So the overdrive slips on my automatic transmission fox body.
It's fully stock 100k miles no major repairs ever. I can drive it around in drive no problem even at highway speeds. Can I fix this or am I fucked?

Probably not by yourself. The causes of Slippage are hugely numerous. Just take it in to a specialist.

It's a hail Mary but you can try to drop the pan and filter and replace with fresh fluid and maybe a friction modifier like lucas trans fluid.
Take note of the color and viscosity of the used oil that drops with the pan.

Even if just overdrive slips, you never fucking know what that can cause with the witchcraft that is autotragic transmissions. I'd just get the thing looked at.
In the meantime I suppose a tranny fluid flush can't hurt if you haven't done one in a while, and look for leaks and other shit around the tranny while you do it.
It's the overdrive bands, they're shit in the AOD. You're fine in D for now.

You can "fix" this by swapping in new/rebuilt/used transmission.
That's much easier and cheaper than trying to actually fix the transmission.
Drive it in D for as long as it lasts. Transmission is already junk, you can't make it worth less.

No, it's only overdrive. An AOD rebuild will easily run 1k+.

Don't worry, my Foxbody is making 350hp at the wheels dyno'd and i blew out my overdrive 3 years ago. At that point & time I didn't have the money for a new trans or rebuild, so i just did what >>14136243 did and changed the trans fluid.
Didn't really help but hey, i spent the last 3 years just having it in 2nd. Still drives just fine, only now on the highway i'm at 3500 rpm to go 80mph instead off 2.5k(have a 3.55 end gear).
Other then that as long as its getting cooled and it isn't shitting metal into the rest of your tranmission then you are fine as gears 1 & 2 are solid gears, where as the overdrive is an composite gear, which is why it gives up the ghost if not built properly.
Time to swap for a manual. Go to a junkyard and find all the parts you need.
