Your tires are all that touches the ground. Your tires have a maximum friction limit before they start to slip.
In a FWD car, your front tires have to steer, accelerate, and brake. When taking a corner, you cannot use a lot of throttle because steering duty + power = wheel slip.
In a RWD car, you can steer the same amount but use more throttle during the corners because your power goes to wheels not burdened by steering. You lose less speed during the corner and can actually accelerate during corners.
Also, from a stop cars shift their weight to the rear. This means that more force is being but downwards on the rear wheels, meaning that you can use more power to accelerate from a stop in a RWD car than FWD before encountering wheelspin.
Also, if you are pro at dorifto, on certain corners you can use the power to "vector" your car's nose into the corner early, allowing for you to accelerate more in the corner and leave with a higher exit speed.

a FWD car readily oversteers off-throttle as well, whereas a RWD car tends to oversteer on throttle.
You can "vector" a FWD car more easily since correcting the slide merely requires pointing the wheels in the right direction and giving it gas. but accelerating smoothly out of a corner requires more finesse than RWD because of weight transfer.
