I highly doubt Fiat completely changed the chassis itself, which leaves us with several things that can go wrong:
>fit and finish
>engine detuning to save the 4C
>gearbox
>suspension setup
Fit and finish seems something that'll be par for the course, but we'll have to see.
Engine detuning can be undone, fortunately. It'll be especially fun if we get the Alfa 1.8 Turbo, without the 4C's DCT holding it back - meaning we can finally get 300+ hp out of that engine.
Gearbox will be Mazda-sourced, with different ratios. Not too much to fuck up there.
Which leaves us with suspension. If I'm not mistaken, Mazda sets up the Miata quite soft from the factory, and I'd bet Fiat's engineers will want to put their mark on the suspension, stiffening it up a lot, and they'll probably go overboard with that on the inevitable Abarth. I highly doubt it'll be an underperformer though.
