It's just a test drive, go out and drive a 5.0 while you're at it too. Both of those cars can be had in your price range. Don't expect "sports car" handling, expect pony car handling and you'll be fine. Both cars handle decently well for what they are, but you're going to probably love day V8 rumble. 370Z's feel a little lighter on their toes, so to speak. The 5.0/SS both drive like linebackers who've got a rough idea of how to dance. So it's not pretty but it'll get you where you wanna go.

OP, you can get a 5.0 Mustang or Camaro SS or a Charger R/T for that money and have a much better car. Mustang/Camaro if you want speed, Charger if you want to go fast-ish but also want a practical, comfy sedan.

12k miles, $27k early this year. It was mint when I bought it. Just turned 20k miles this weekend.
If you want a quick little two seater it's the best option until you get into the Cayman. But I actually prefer the Z over the used Caymans starting at 30k+.

The Rays that came on mine look good. I want to bronze them.

Kind of what I'd assumed. I'm not sold on two seats but I am a huge fan of small cars.
>>14131218
>The FRS/BRZ can be bought for the high teens and give a more fun and accessible driving experience, memes aside
They are slower than my 1997 sedan outside. If they weren't cucked with a shitbox engine i'd consider but I am way too old to be driving such slow cars, let alone spending nearly 20k on one. Nothing against the chassis the motor is just a joke.
But yeah M3s are always on the radar but with old cars comes super limited supply. Part of the reason I'm looking at new(er) cars. I've been car hunting for months shit gets old.
>>14131233
>what is turn-key
To each their own. I could live the rest of my life without ever turning another wrench on a car again. Bikes are enough of a hassle and I simply don't have the time for the auto "hobby" anymore. Don't grow old anon.
>>
>>14131190
I drive a
Scion FR-S
you can get a lot of very good used metal for 25k, and some very good new cars as well. A used 370z at 25k is literally the worst of both worlds

you want to get a good used value for that cash, start looking for a
chevy SS
Assuming this Cayman stickered for 50Kish, the parts and labor doesn't depreciate like the cars value does. He'd be better off with a domestic V8 or a used Jap two seater.
>>
>>14131332
True the parts and labor can be a pain... but they really aren't hard to work on and they preform really well. Dat mid engine. These can be had for less than 25k.
>>

Engine bay is mad cramped

Makes a LS1 firebird/C6 Vette engine bay look roomy by comparison. I'm sure basic maintenance isn't too bad. Just if something goes wrong how confident are you with wrenching on an older Porsche?
>>
>>14131303
The 370z has another 500 pounds over my 86 and doesn't handle nearly as well (worse steering feel). I was thinking about it when buying back in 2013 but ultimately I didn't like how difficult it was to maintain power through a hairpin.

It's in this ugly area where I was going 'well if I wanted a car that was just fast, I'd save money and get CHEAP FAT PUSHROD MUSCLE'. My FRS has front wheel camber with direzza star specs and a flashed ECU to reduce the effect of the torquedip (and make it easier to keep it in powerband), all it needs is a supercharger to make 250 and it's a solid little car for mountain roads.
>>
>>14131378
You're kidding right? The engine bay can fit an LS in it. The flat 6 is a pretty massive engine. Hell you can reach almost everything from under the car. I've worked on a friend's Cayman S and it was pretty easy. I thought it would be a nightmare but everything is pretty simple. I personally would take one over a 370z. It out performs it in every way.
>>
>>14131415
idk man i mean good for you if it is adequate then i'm sure its a great chassis but i just can't get into slow cars unless they are an old collectors car. just like i only ride sportbikes. 500lbs for more than 100hp is an obvious choice imo for not much more money either. just my personal take on cars to each their own.

It's just a matter of the roads you like to work on. This road here is in my backyard, and it heavily favors light cars over heavier ones, and I'm not capable of going fast on bikes on roads like this because I'll pussy out

I took a 5.0 mustang gt through this road (old college roommate's car) and it's still fun, but you can't take the hairpins nearly as quickly
>>
>>14131488
Yeah that is a bike road if I've ever seen one. Damn jealous. That said I'd still always choose more horsepower in a proper chassis. I figure M3s and other sports cars are heavy and do just fine. Any minimal gain from being lighter is far overshadowed on the straights and uphill.

Damn I want to ride that shit on my bike tho fuck anon.
>>
>>14131525
An M3/RCF/etc will do just fine on the road, but a Miata/Cayman/Elise/etc will do better. There are plenty of options for high hp heavy cars, but as you go down in weight category the options become vastly more limited and much more expensive.

Not to say the FRS will outdo the M3, but I know for a fact that I can dust a 370z or genesis coupe or pushrod or similar in my car on this road.
>>
>>14131555
meh i get your point but we've simply a difference of views. some may prefer a 600 for their handling but i like liters for their better all around utility and speed. Feel the same about cars.

Most you can safely fit on the front without butchering your car like in that pic is 245s ore 255s. 275s rub on the front even with the lip cut out. Then you can't run much wider on back or it will push even more than the dump truck it already is. Never seen more than 255s on the back that didn't stick out and look red neck bad like 275s and 285s always do. Either way 285s is not enough tire for a big old boat like the new Goats.

My Z pisses in your FRS's intake, fuck off queer.
Go ahead and benchrace. I've owned more vehicles than you've seen years, and I was thoroughly underwhelmed by the FRS. The interior is 90s KIA tier too.

They are what got me interested in sports coupes again, but they are a letdown in reality. And I am a Toyota fanboi. The 370z blew the FRS away in the feels dept, that's why I bought one instead.

The 370z has Jap class with muscle acceleration, and the handling characteristics you'd expect from a traditional two seat rwd coupe making 330+hp at the crank.

You fell for the meme, while people who actually like cars and driving chose any number of quicker sharp handling cars in the price range.
>>
>>14131415
You tested the base z, queerbait.
Someone who chose the bargain basement frs can't afford the sport package. And the base Z still shits on the frs.

Nigga fucking plz.
You are slower than a miata, and lower trim than a Mitsubishi Lancer Base.
The magnitude of disappointment at the anemic shitbrick Subie tier flat four is what made me absolutely hate the entire fucking car. And the interior and the terribly spongy gearbox was the worst.
Car would have been better served by a fucking Briggs & Stratton.
Toyota has been ultrakuk'd.

A ten year old used Cayman is a shitbox.
You mustnbe twelve, because you have obviously never turned a wrench.

Only an absolute idiot would buy a decade old Porsche with the intent to keep it on the road more than 50% of its life. Learn the difference between a daily driver that will run for 200k+ miles, and a project garage queen.

Then again you also think an frs is a fast car, and not an overpriced subie shitbox waiting to spin a bearing, or blow a head.

The Nismo is worth $20k more than an frs, that's a fucking bargain. And the sport is at most $4k more than an frs, and a vastly superior coupe. If you bought a used sport or Nismo with low miles, it would be the same price as an frs and still be under warranty. You have to void yours just to try and chase the speed the z comes with stock.
