How critical is it to replace a bad valve cover gasket?

The engine is covered in oil, but I haven't really noticed a drop in the oil level and nothing is getting onto the ground.

Can it wait until after winter?

>the engine is covered in oil
there's your answer
>>
>>14124983

That's not an answer. You just copied and pasted.
>>
>>14125008
you know what I mean. If it covered the engine in oil it's important.

>light autism
>>
>>14125020
that oil can cause other problems as well, and it's not just "oh I'll wipe it off" if it continues to leak it will cause problems, some of which are not cheap
>>
>>14124958
Yea it can wait. If it gets on your starter it might fry it, that's it.
>>
Oil is flammable. Fire bad.
>>
>>14125057

Wrong.

It burns but it's not flammable.
>>
>>14125050
>that's it

no, oil can ruin rubber. goodbye hoses, belts, harmonic balancer, etc
>>
>>14125065
Except it is
>>
>>14125065
are you daft? look up the new 3800 recall
>>
>>14125073
Coincidentally for leaky valve covers
>>
>>14125066
How the fuck is a weeping valve cover gasket going to launch oil on your belts and hoses?
>>
>>14125078
irony general
>>
>>14125068
>>14125073

No it's not.

It has a flash point well above 100F.

It's not considered flammable
>>
>>14125088
it's already all over the engine according to OP
>>
My valve cover gasket is leaking too, but I can only tell by smell and a spot on my exhaust header.
I ain't fucking doing it anytime soon. Fuck getting the valve cover off of a lincoln.
>>
An engine covered in oil just means rust prevention bruh. Seriously though, it doesn't matter really as long as your oil levels are fine.
>>
>>14125102
Nigger, have you ever even worked on a car?
>>
>>14125094
Manifolds hit up to 6 times that temp. It can start a fire in your engine bay
>>
>>14125134
it's the same as a seal leaking dipass
