Old taxis and extended wheelbase limos usually had fold up backup seats for cramming more people. Funeral limos are 3 rows long with normal seats. Otherwise station wagons had a third row facing the opposite direction.

No there wasn't any real nuclear powered cars. Nuclear power plants are currently the smallest nuclear reactors that exist. Lockheed Martin is currently working on a compact reactor and when finished in the near future, it will be the size of a shed.

An RTG is like the energy equivalent of a few D-size batteries, except it can last decades longer. Perfect for use on space probes and landers, not so much on earth-bound vehicles.
IIRC the Curiosity rover only covers like .15 miles per day, and thats not when its gathering data or performing experiments.
Maybe some time in the distant future we'll have vehicles powered by miniaturized fusion reactors, but I think battery technology will be so good by then we'll have cars that can run thousands of miles before needing to be charged again, which can be done in minutes.

Suitcase sized reactors and bombs exist, US DOE has made both. They can power up to 8 houses per suitcase.

Oh, and you still need regular explosives to make the critical mass happen in one place when you want it, rather than during assembly of the bomb. So, you'd be found out by a sniffer dog pretty quick.
The only real way to do a suitcase nuke is to do a multiple-suitcase nuke. Meet up with a load of friends, all with suitcases full of plutonium. You meet on a train, let's say, and put the cases together in a luggage rack. Then after you get enough together, you get criticality. Assuming you didn't die of cancer on the way there due to the radioactivity.

Plus you still need to compact them really fucking hard or get a neutron collimator, otherwise you just get neutron scattering and very quickly get to a subcritical state. Basically melt everything for a quick sec, instead of a mushroom cloud nuke.
