Been looking into an small, lightweight and cheap to get car to track

>No, i don't want a miata
>No, not for touge...

I can find one for $1.8k-$3k depending on condition. I'm considering it since it's a cheap RWD. Would this be a good choice?bI also had in mind a mk3 GTI. I'm open for some suggestion(no miata) and why or why not choose the two I mentioned.
>>
>>14119311
Yeah why not.
A FWD corolla will handle just as well if not better though.

That's not a great example but it's $1700. It's interiors are in bad shape but who cares. It has a patch of rust as per the owner. We dont get snow here etc. Some in excellent condition can be $5k.

I'm more sold on this old car because it's a lightweight RWD. I said no miatas because although I recognize they are excellent on track. I dont like them.

Any other suggestion besides this 30yr old car? I don't mind FWD suggestions. Any particular trim of ae86/ae88 I should avoid?
>>
>>14119539
this is bullshit

I cant find an ae86 cheaper than $5000
fuck this dude

desu after spending so long on /o/ i am completely jaded with rwd
>>
>>14119539
I'm finding this hard to believe. They're $20,000-25,000 cars here.
>>
>>14119483
Shitposters habe moved onto this form of shitposting now that mods fucking finally caught wind of alphonse and gtr vs corvette.

We thought he was the mod of /m/ for 2 years.
>>
>>14119938

Don't worry, I'm just window shopping.
>>
Apart from the 30yr old corolla and the mk3 GTI I've looked around for an E30 but I think it's the more expensive option for parts.

My deal here is that I'm not gonna build a race car, just something to track some weekends and mildly modify(suspension, power) and not be bothered by expensive upkeep of the engine due to age.

>Any particular trim of ae86/ae88 I should avoid?

SR5. If it has the 4AGE and discs all around, you're good to go. Should be the GTS model if it's USDM. There was no other trim with the 4AGE.

AE88 is just the VIN code. Both cars are AE86 chassis coded. Same car as the GT-Apex in Japan with an AFM sensor instead of MAP.

>>14120014
It's a fine track car with a good aftermarket. It's not that horribly expensive to mod if you don't care about appearances. 4AGEs are still pretty reliable if they've had a rebuild. I drive mine to and from work 100 miles a day occasionally.

Get one, fix it up a little, take it to the track and then start modifying it to your liking from there.

I've seen people drool over more for the hatch but in terms of weight distribution, wheelbase, etc. Should I be looking for 4dr or a 2dr hatch?
