OP that isn't horrible but it isn't great either, the X is the base model truck, and Xterras are brutally crude vehicles to begin with. I briefly considered buying a low mile or new Pro-4X with the 6spd manual but was kind of surprised by how much louder and worse riding it was than my 20 year old 4Runner. They made the rear leaf springs really soft to try and help the truck ride smoother, as a result the rear end is very prone to bottoming out and the springs and shocks wear out quickly.
Having said that, I'd still consider buying a used Pro-4X for the right price, seeing as they depreciate rather quickly, and swap in some aftermarket suspension to sort out the ride and load capacity.

2012+ got an updated stereo interface, 2009+ has an updated center stack with button HVAC rather than dials. 05-08 trucks seem to have the most issues with transmission failure due to radiator-internal trans cooler taking in coolant and timing chain tensioner issues.

Might want to qualify that statement a tad, how so? The 3.0L V6 has a well deserved reputation for blowing the factory head gasket, but once that is fixed correctly with the updated gasket and head bolts tightened to the correct torque, these fairly gutless and thirsty motors are workhorses. Aside from that and the propensity to rust, they are total tanks. Torsion bar IFS doesn't ride or handle as nice as the later double wishbone front end, but it is sturdier. That ancient 4Runner actually has a better rear suspension setup than a brand new Xterra, sadly, with a 5-link coil sprung rear axle rather than primitive and poorly tuned leaf springs. I'd also take that old 4Runner's interior and lowering rear window+tailgate over the Xterra's plain jane hatch and awful interior finish any day.
