Hello /o/,

I need a first car to replace my Vespa. Due to medical problems that I'd rather not get into, I need a fun car that I can get out at a slightly elevated seating position.

I was looking at the Ford Fiesta ST, thr Volkswagen Golf, and the Subaru XV Crosstrek.

I want something fun, comfy, and spacious. I know you guys don't like crossovers like the XV, but I have a legitimate reason to have one rather than soccer mom placebos.

Any other suggestions? Budget is $30k.

You have already chosen to not get a Crosstek.

There is potential in you.

Mazda CX-3
>>
ST is pretty low iirc.

>>14114087
like he said I'd probably go with a mazda

For that money you can get a mazda CX-3. Drives better than most. Fun, comfy, and spacious enough. Key word is "enough." What you need to haul, a kayak? If so there are roof racks. Comes in awd too.

Fiesta ST, Mazda 3s, Golfs are great choices, though seating position will be lower.
>>
>>14114096
Slow, whatever, from test driving it and seeing reviews it felt fun and zippy enough.

Not a sports car by any means, but it is sporty enough for me. Shit, I ride a fucking Vespa, everything is an upgrade right now.

>>14114087
>>14114096
>>14114102
How are the CX-3s? I was looking into Mazda 3s, but I had a real hard time getting out. I saw the CX-3 and it just looked like a crossover version of the Mazda 3.
>>
>>14114063

Also if your budget is 30k, there's still no reason to spend all 30k.

>>14114087
>>14114096
>>14114102

All correct. You can get one for low 20's and then spend it on tires, suspension, maintenance, gas money for short roadtrips
>>
You can get one of these...

...if you are prepared to have to beat all the wimmins off of you m8

>>
>>14114114

You're in the ballpark. It's based on the 2 and 3, which are already god tier in their classes. CX-3s have smaller interiors than other compact cross overs but again, whatchu hauling really? Are your kids fat? Are your friends fat? This is your car, not theirs.

They're the most "fun" to drive in their segment.

Don't have many.

Thanks for the input.
>>14114116
I've never seen one of these before, and they're not too expensive at only a few thousand over budget, which I can easily afford.

But my issue would be long-term maintenance costs and reliability. That's why I'd rather go with the Mazda. But I'll see my local Mercedes dealer and drive one of these.
>>
>>14114063
Own Fiesta ST; can confirm it's rather difficult to get in and out. And it's pretty low. Granted I'm about 6'3" and maybe 210, so take it how you will.
But its a hell of a car. More fun than my last car, a MINI.
>>
>>14114147
>I've never seen one of these before

It's basically a Mercedes Crosstrek, and yes, it will be unreliable after a few years.
>>
>>14114147
Also, if I sound facetious, I'm sorry I don't mean it. I appreciate all of you guy's input.
>>14114148
The Focus ST was even worse, the salesman had to pull me out of the thing. It doesn't help having back and butt problems.

I really did like the way the Fiesta deove and felt, and the Recaro seats fit me perfectly.

We don't necessarily HATE all crossovers, we hate cross overs LIKE the XV, Nissan Murano, Nissan Juke.

We dislike crossovers as a whole, and only hate a few.

Have you thought about the Fiat 500? Or a mini or mini countryman?

22-25k. Not bad.

It's cheap, my parents gave it to me when I was 16, and I love it. I'd still ride it if I didn't have my back issues, and was moving to BFE.

SIEG HEIL TO DEUTSHELAND!!!
>>
>>14114163
Same, the Fiesta felt so much better. Someone suggested a countryman, those are much better for getting in and out of. And tons of people autocross them, so they are quick and a hoot.
>>
>>14114164
I just hear horror stories of Fiat and Mini quality. Half of my family drives Minis and Fiats and are plagued with problems.

Whatever you choose, you've done better than 99% of /o/ and actually have test driven cars, even the ones that will probably not be serious contenders.
>>
>>14114191
I just prefer to lay out all the options I have and do research. I figured if I'm going to be dropping a huge chunk of change as well as any additional costs for tires, accessories, etc, I want to be informed with anything possible.

I just don't want to be stuck with a car that's uncomfortable or I don't like.
>>
>>14114182

Yes they are less reliable than jap makes but are more reliable and cheaper to maintain than mercs and bimmers.

Your family is mostly well off enough. The upper middle class:

-Buys euro makes because they got some money
-Don't properly maintain them because they don't have upperclass money
-Blamed for poor reliability.

You know a huge reason honda's and toyota's have legendary reliability? Poorfags can't afford to "buy a new one" or "take it to a shop" and they have to keep them working enough to get to work.
>>
>>14114219
>but are more reliable and cheaper to maintain than mercs and bimmers.

What?
British and Italian makes in general are bottom of the totem pole when it comes to preconceived notions of reliability.

The upper middle class leases them you moron.

Only idiots buy 2-3 year old European cars out of warranty.

Get the Fiesta ST. Alternatively, Juke NISMO RS really isn't a bad car if it weren't almost $29k.

The Juke looks unique though, like a snowflake with no other rivals. Is it as special on the inside as it looks on the outside?

Fine, I have pilonidal cysts, crohn's disease, slipped disc AND suffer issues from a fracture of my L3 vertebrae.

How is asking for "reliability" making me a SJW? What about a lower-middle class upbringing makes me a SJW? If I were such a SJW, I would've majored in Liberal Arts or Gender Studies, not mechanical engineering.

I key every Crosstrek I come across that I see east of Raleigh.

I forgot to mention, I'm trying out the GLA and X1, but I may not go with them. Either way, I'll figure it out.
