Which is better for the mountain/touge o.

Naturally aspirated engines or turbos?

Uphill or downhill?

N/A.
If you have to have forced induction, pick your poison. I prefer superchargers over turbos
>no lag
>>
>>14113283
both
>>
>>14113290
Modern turbos have no lag and full spool by 2k rpm and keep peak torque till redline, superchargers have to build boost and usually only have it near the middle of the band
>>
>>14113302
>Modern turbos have no lag
Stopped reading
>>
>>14113302
>>14113302
all turbos have lag
>>
>>14113302

Roots style blowers make boost at idle, twin screws also take zero time to make boost. Not to get into the shit posting argument over turbos and "lag".
>>
>>14113312
Modern turbocharged cars from the factory usually have very little to no lag. My stock Mazdaspeed6 hits full boost (15.6 lbs) by 2500 RPM. If you are keeping your revs high, like on the togue, there will be no lag due to how high the RPM's are and how quick the turbocharger's turbine and compressor spool from being sized properly with the displacement of the motor.
>>
>>14113290
>Creates a parasitic drag on the engine's power output
>Only useful in engines that produce 400+ Hp b4 the sc

I think something like sequential twin tarbos or a variable geometry are the best bets for op
>>
>>14113323
they make boost, they don't make full boost.

superchargers are a dead technology. stop the boomer madness.
>>
>>14113325
boost threshold =/= lag
>>
>>14113344
Still, getting back on the throttle in the high revs, my turbocharger spools as soon as I'm on the throttle.
>>
>>14113340
>superchargers are a dead technology.

Superchargers are fantastic for ultra high output and twincharging is some seriously cool shit that I wish anyone other than VW was pushing

>Full boost from idle with no drain at full power

Just swap a v6/I6 in anything if you can. Forced induction is just a headache of problems and things that can go wrong.

2GR, VQ35, or J32-35

Those are your best options
>>
>>14113283
My 1.8 tsi gen3 has peak torque 1450-6000 rpm
192hp
>>
>>14113349
Volvo is going to be twincharging everything.
>>
>>14113375
Why would you swap a VQ35 in anything rather than a v8 like an ls?

If your going through the effort to swap things might as well go with a high displacement motor
>>
>>14113741
>Why would you swap a VQ35 in anything rather than a v8

Because weight and balance
>>
>>14113749
Your assuming what was in the vehicle was light to begin with
>>
>>14113874
It would be easier to balance the vehicle to 50/50 with a v6 than a v8

You would be a hell of a lot closer and lighter
>>
>>14113874
You're* assuming there's even a vehicle to begin with!
>>
>>14113749
At least say something realistic like power potential and reliability under boost.

The LS* series V8 is lighter and smaller than the VQ35...
>>
>>14113846
this is like the wagecuck stuff over on r9k
>>
>>14113884
I don't know anything about LS engines.
What about compared to the other 2 choices I listed?

Why cherry pick when there are 2 other engines I listed with lighter weights?

if you're /Big Time Gambler/ like me, then you don't need turboes. 9/10 times, driving skill makes the difference.
>>
>>14113302
If the turbo I'd a tiny OEM one.
Has zero power past 5000rpm to to being so fucking small.

If u want say 500rwhp, ur NOT gonna make peak boost at 2000rpm

not knowing the glory the that beautiful supercharger whine going around corners up the mountain.
>have fun with your gay blowoff valves and complicated exhaust set ups
>>
>>14113302
Only centrifugal superchargers. Blowers are instant
>>
>>14113290
That would be a nice 3800 if it weren't for the hot air intake you monstrous faggot.

And here I thought my knowledge of how cars work was pathetic, but goddamn.

>>

Since when are superchargers boomer shit?

They're used on all sorts of cars, even one of this decade's corollas had a supercharger.
>>

>Since when are superchargers boomer shit?
When people think of superchargers they think of some old muscle car thing
